I see people are still sleeping on Kevin Lankinen.
Dude posted a .909 save percentage in Chicago that had a Dcore- of 37 yr old Duncan Keith, Calvin Dehaan, Adam Boqvit, Zadorov and Murphy
Has a .905 save percentage this year despite Q Hughes and Hronek being out of the lineup for a big chunk of the time and having a dcore of Tyler Myers, Noah Juuslen, Carson Soucy, Forbort, Desharnais.
He has played at a .909 Save % in his last 77 games.
Lankinen is a 1B starter no question asked. He is above a backup level.
4.5 mil is nothing with the cap going up, its likely what backups will be paid. It gives the Canucks a couple of options:
1. Draft and develop a goaltender that hopefully can take over in the 3-4 years. ( maybe already in the system, Silovs, Tollopilo, Young) It buys the Canucks time and patience.
2. 4.5 mil AAV is nothing, they can decide to eventualy trade for or sign a big name goaltender making 6+mil.
As for Demko, I dont think they trade him, I think they just ride it out and go with a combo next year then walk away from signing him to a big contract afterwards. I dont think its worth it to trade him, Canucks probably wouldnt fetch much and they'd still have to look for another goalie afterwards. Silovs not ready.
