Vancouver instantly has an excellent top 6 if this happens.

Rodin RNH Eberle
Sedin Sedin Eriksson

Really? Rodin has done nothing to be a 1st left winger, he hasn't even proved he can be in the NHL. And Eriksson hasn't done anything, he's not a top 6 player with what he's been showing us in Van. That's also one very soft and small top 6.

All things that would've been said by Oiler fans about Hall for Larsson.

I kinda like this deal for the Oilers. Sures up the top 4, and Sutter is a good top 6 center, great top 9. Eberle leaving seems like a little much, but I like Sutter more than most. Seems like if this were to happen, they'd have a lot of aspects you see from championship teams. Superstar forward, three centers deep, good top 4 that can be relied on, solid goaltending. I could see them winning the conference with that lineup.

And well, with Vancouver....
IDK why RNH and Eberle would see more success with the Canucks, than they saw with the Oilers. Doesn't make much sense to me, but I guess they want to "stay competitive"

Interesting that you reference a deal that was considered lopsided by pretty much everyone not named Peter Chiarelli - and even he admitted the price was steep. So yeah, Oilers fans think this deal is lopsided and if it did happen, Edmonton, and to a larger extent Chiarelli, would be ridiculed by everyone associated with the NHL.

Tanev is better than most people think, but I see no reason for Edmonton to go out and get another defensive defenseman. It would not shore up the top 4, they would still be missing that offensive, PP Quarterbacking defenseman that championship teams have.

Sutter would be a big downgrade from RNH in pretty much exery way, and Hansen is not enough to make up the difference.

For all the slack Eberle takes, like Tanev, he is better than most people think. He has been pretty consistent with the Oilers for a few years now and would have been only behind the Sedins last year in points on the Canucks.

This trade marginally upgrades the defense while gutting the forwards. Huge no-thank you from me, but I'm not Peter Chiarelli so take that FWIW.
