3 for what he did last year is probably ok, but he shouldn’t be in the top 4 regularly and at that price point he’s an expensive luxury on the bottom pair on a team that doesn’t have a lot of money to fill other holes. He’s also 34, so even if he’s the same player next year he probably won’t be for the whole deal. I wouldn’t say it’s clinging to old tropes to not like this.
Fair.

Islanders and Nucks need to have an agreement that only 1 of Myers and Engvall can play when they face each other, home team gets prio. Does the CBA have guidance in place for what happens if two players get their necks tied in an impossible knot? Combine their cap hits and flip a coin on who keeps them?

It's interesting. I just checked Capfriendly and looks like the Nucks still have 14.5 M in cap space with 19 contracts despite all these signings. I think their GM is doing a tidy work.
Still have Zadarov, Lindholm, and a backup goalie to sign (theoretically to get to the same spot they were last year which still wasn’t good enough).

This wasn’t a wise move by the Canucks. First one this offseason. Can get Zadarov, Lindholm, and a backup G for the money but I don’t see how they can possibly get Guentzel without leaving some pretty blatant holes.

Do the Canucks really just want to run it back?

You think damn 34 years old, for 3yrs X 3m. Then you remember he’s a 6’7” RHD and probably the second best RHD available on the market this summer.

I’m okay with it.

Second best RHD? Wtf

Roy
Tanev
Pesce
Walker
Montour

Like that’s off the top of my head…I’d also easily take someone like Carrier ahead of him but I’ll stick to the obvious names.

We'll see who is actually available on July 1st but as things stand I'd have certainly have him below Pesce, Montour, Roy and Tanev. Maybe Walker.

I’m talking after July 1st. I can only really see Tanev and Walker out of that list making it there.

I’d 100% take Myers over Walker but that’s just me.

Guys like Montour and Pesce are going to be overpaid and probably were not in the Canucks plans due to their price points. Walker, Carrier or Tanev are targets Vancouver could still reasonably sign. As for Roy... yes I would've preferred not signing Myers and going for Roy but that's a gamble as he will have lots of suitors.

RD making 2.5-3.5 mil. Myers fits into this group just fine.

Maybe a year too long but I still like it. He can log minutes and played great in the playoffs. He still has game left in him.

Getting their house in order. I wanted more like $2.5M for Myers...but under this staff, he's probably a $3M player so i won't complain. He's getting #4/5 tweener money at that rate, which is exactly what he is. Can play more minutes but it gets bad real quickly. In this price range though, you're getting a lot of really flawed players anyway. Might as well go with the flawed player you know and can work with. Who has size, skating ability, and a coveted RH shot premium.

Good deal really proves his worth in the playoffs when rules go out the window with the physicality.

Not sure what the Canucka have in cap space remaining though?

TBH not really happy about this. Does this mean no Tanev?
Tanev was never a thing. just some stupid fan's wet dream.

3x3 is less than what Myers would have gotten on the market but somehow it's still an overpayment?

200w.gif
This is the only correct answer.
$2.75 would have been ideal but this guy would have a shit ton of value on the open market.
