Exchange rate means players, who are all paid in US dollars, actually see more in Canada. 10 million US dollars is 13+ million in Canadian funds.a recap: i said vancouver's defense looks good until hughes leaves. you said hughes isn't going anywhere. i asked you for proof. you have none. i don't have any proof that's he's leaving, since it is an unknowable outcome for anyone except for quinn
however, there is more reason to suspect that he will leave than he won't: locker room drama. management being forced to ship miller out for less than market value. the allure of playing with his 2 brothers on a contender. the fact that he signed his current contract to walk him directly to ufa. his desire to contend and the likely decline of the canucks. he's american playing in canada. the poor exchange rate of us-canadian currency means less take home money
reasons to suspect that he will stay: he was drafted there and he's the captain
not very compelling
Bad trade, handcuffs other moves, Alvins hands are tied at deadlineSome clowns will still say this was a bad trade for Vancouver.
Am I missing something here? Everybody here praising a 5.5M$ signing for a 30 points defenseman? Is it all about his size? Surely he is a defensive defenseman excelling in his own zone, right?
Huh… I thought he’d come in at around 6.25mil x 6 years, so I’m pleasantly surprised.
Canuck fans, this doesn’t mean we WIN the Miller trade, by the way. That can’t really be determined for 3 years or so. As it presently stands, however, the reality of the situation is we got back a 3D with size that we sorely needed, a 2C that has looked extremely promising, a 3W that has looked great, and a decent RHD prospect. Now, a 1C is more valuable than that, but our team seems to be playing better as a result of these pieces. Right now, things are looking positive across the board for all parties.
I’m not saying Hughes won’t leave, but this is a pretty one sided pro/con list. How many times do team captains leave in free agency vs re-signing? How many times do team superstars in their prime leave in free agency vs. resigning? How many times do sibling team ups happen? When they do, how often is it after the leaving brother has already won with his original team? Beyond issues focused around Miller, what evidence do you have that there’s drama ongoing in the locker room? How often do good players signing RFA deals NOT sign a deal that goes to the time where they become a UFA?a recap: i said vancouver's defense looks good until hughes leaves. you said hughes isn't going anywhere. i asked you for proof. you have none. i don't have any proof that's he's leaving, since it is an unknowable outcome for anyone except for quinn

Yes, he is a defensive defenseman who excels in his zone. Also very good at breaking out of his zone. With Hughes and Hronek, fits exactly with what the canucks need.Am I missing something here? Yes. Some defensemen are good at defense and paid for that ability.Am I missing something here?
Funny how many people don't understand this. It is not as though anything is any cheaper in the US nowadays, so his salary goes much further playing in Canada. The only people the exchange rate hurts is the owners as they bring in most of their revenue in CAD, but pay their players in USD.Exchange rate means players, who are all paid in US dollars, actually see more in Canada. 10 million US dollars is 13+ million in Canadian funds.
That’s also a possibility, but we already know that Quinn Hughes loves playing with hronek. Why not M.Pettersson and Hronek!!??
That's a sketch John Wayne Gacy did.Bad trade, handcuffs other moves, Alvins hands are tied at deadline

Yeah well 31 teams wish they had Leo CarlssonMan, wish the Ducks held onto him. And Montour. And Theodore.
His name is Frank Seravelli and he's...well yeah, a clown.
