No, but this is why the trade probably happened with Colorado and not Columbus or some other team. Colorado is basically paying $1M+ for a 4th round pick.

Is this type of partial insurance on a contract standard, or is this another Benning classic?

As context, the Ferland contract turned out to be uninsurable and the Canucks had to pay the entire contract out of pocket after Ferland played 13 games or something.
