If he doesn't, the Canucks bench him for the next 1.5 years and he won't get another high value NHL contract. If he gets 20 mins a night with the Flames he probably gets another good one.

I think Kuz is looking for opportunity at this stage. If he sees that Calgary sees him as a valuable piece maybe he wants to to go somewhere that wants to work with him

I wondered if a team looking to stay competitive might look at Kuzmenko for their rental as a decent way to go, get back a top 6 player for next season.
