Canucks GM rushed to make an early trade when they had no need to. The kind of behavior you see from teams in 7th to 10th place.

It was a calculated risk. In another world, Lindholm returns to form, our price established a high benchmark for comparable players, and we underpaid for an impact player that filled a need.

Just didn't play out as intended.

Monahan was traded like 2 days later, it's likely that both teams were in on Lindholm and that's just how it went.

It has more talent than Vancouver, especially on defense. Their goalies suck (pretty much what killed Vancouver last season), and their forwards are very inconsistent. But look at their age, their top forwards are 21-25 year old. Oh, and coaching was a huge problem.
The Senators best Dman would be #3 on Vancouver.

I almost think we could trade Kuzmenkov this summer. I wasn't expecting that. Thought at the TDL with 50% retained was to be expected.

Guy just knows how to score.

Don't kill me.

LMAO.
Yah, gonna need some proof that Sanderson is better than Hronek this year. Clearly Hronek and Sanderson have been the around the same caliber of Dman this season. With the edge going to Hronek. At worst, a toss up.

Seems like your only reasoning is that he plays for Ottawa and Hronek doesn't.

Because you sure aren't backing it up with anything.

This trade looking worst and worst for canucks. Those 2 d prospects and first round gonna hurt for a long time

9 points in the last 5 games for Kuzmenko...

Good for him, but he wasn't going to see ice time on the Canucks. You won't see many Canuck fans dancing on his grave, he was a fan favourite, just not a coaching staff favourite.

Extremely late first, 3rd round pick from 4 years ago that the team wasn't going to sign, recent 3rd round pick that was rumoured to not want to sign with the team because of ice time concerns. Trade hasn't looked good, but the pieces don't move the needle for the Canucks this year when they're trying to compete.

That's the problem, the team won just 5 games out of the last 10, but what teams did they beat? Well, Buffalo, Montreal, Calgary, Anaheim and Arizona...

They also don't have their starting goalie or the player they added in this trade.

I don't really care to think about what could have been if only the coaching staff had played Kuzmenko more despite him not earning his play time, not getting chances, not scoring, and not forechecking. I'm much more concerned with thinking about how the team was able to move out a player that was stuck in the press box for 5.5 million.

Kuzmenko with the Canucks in 22-23: 27.3 shooting%
Kuzmenko with the Canucks in 23-24: 12.7 shooting %
Kuzmenko with the Flames: 24.3 shooting%

Yeah, he doesn't forcheck, sure... Now there is the question, why didn't he score such goals for Vancouver? Why did they healthy scratch him when he was almost PPG? Maybe it's not just because of him sucked?

He just wasn't that good in Vancouver and it was time to move on, and his points were from playing with Pettersson.

Nah, Pettersson sucked at the start of the season, but scored a lot of points. So it was probably the other way round. Now he sucks and doesn't score a lot of points...

Or it's because a bunch of the supplementary Canuck players had insane shooting percentages. That regulated and they've been scoring less while also being one of the best defensive teams in the league since the all star break.

Again, I don't really care, Kuzmenko wasn't getting a shot in Vancouver and it was time to move on, I like the player, I think he has a lot to offer and I'm glad things are working out better in Calgary. He wasn't good enough for Tocchet for various reasons so it's better to move on than have him sit in the press box.

edit: also, unless I'm mistaken, he had 21 pts in 43 games when he was traded, that's not almost PPG like you said, it's not even .5ppg.
