realistically,

Probably 5 first round pick equivalents. With bedard your not just getting a star your getting a player whose jersey could one day hang in the rafters. Jersey sales alone make it difficult for a team to justify it.

I think from the Habs it would take

caufield + both our first this year + probably Our 2024 and 25 first

The only comparable I can think of was the Lindros deal. Probably similar pre draft hype (realtive to the mid 90's)

2 x Top 5 pick blue chip prospect
2x 1sts
Starting Goalie
Top 4 Defenseman
2 spare parts
$15 mil cash

It would be an insane package to get it done. In a cap world it just wouldn't happen.

From a Canucks POV, it probably looks like EP, Demko (assuming return to form), both this years 1sts.

You missed Suzuki and probably your best Defensive prospect.

simply doesnt make sense unless you have the 2nd overall pick and the team isnt as high on bedard as most.

Your getting likely two top 10 picks in a deep draft

So it could look like Caufield, Michkov/Smith/Benson, +Moore/reinbacher, +2 more firsts. I don't think it gets higher then that and I don't even want to make that trade as I think it ends up looking like the lindros one where the team getting all the assets ended up the better team for it

many of these 'offers' would destroy any rebuilding franchise's attempt to actually rebuild. Bedard would be playing alone.

As a habs fan, I'd be happy to add a Will Smith to suzuki, caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach, guhle etc
+ florida's pick which also may end being top 12 - than draft bedard and have 0 depth to build with

It 100% is. But to get Bedard, a teams absolute best player is requied, in MTL case it is Suzuki. Vancouver it is Pettersson. etc

I don't know about that. Sure Forsberg turned out in the Lindros trade but he was still a prospect at the time of the trade.

Will never get traded. Would be more interesting to shop the value of the #2 pick.

For Canucks, id offer the folllowing for a chance to get hometown boy to be a Canuck for life and make his dreams come true.

Quinn Hughes

Canucks 1st rnd pick ( probably around 7th overall)
Islanders 1st round pick 2023 ( probably around 13-20overall) or islanders unprotected 2024 1st
Canucks 2024 1st round pick unprotected

Maybe Bedard, demands he wants to play for Van... Would love that!

Hmm… what would CBJ, a team with no top six centres want, in exchange for a presumed generational centre talent in Bedard?

I understand that Bedard has implied that he will be happy to go to any team that drafts him.
Yes so the pick is untouchable/untradeable

No sane person is going to trade a potential franchise player

i would hope that the habs would not make such a deal, the flyers did not improve much until they fleeced the habs for leclair, desjardins, the now avs needed to get the habs to give them roy for non magic beans as well before winning any cups, the habs have now fallen from glory years to bubble team regarding playoffs contention, to now needing to go into full rebuild mode the past 3-4 decades.

People over-estimate the impact a player like Bedard has on a franchise.

How many 1st round picks did the oilers get? They now have McDavid and Drai and have yet to make a deep run in the playoff's.

Bedard might sell a lot of tickets and jersey's - but it doesn't always translate to cups. Nobody is destroying their team to acquire a mystery box.
