It’s extremely frustrating To think we could be sitting in an amazing lottery position right now, in a historical draft, if we would have just blown this team up. These f***ers aren’t winning shit

I can only assume that this was the doing of the ownership and not of Masai and Bobby. I can't believe that those two would be so for lack of a better word, dumb.

I think it was all Masai and Webster. Ownership would not tell them to trade a 1st rd pick for Poetl. Masai/Webster get way too much credit. There were some deals that if the other team didn’t back down, would have blown up in their faces.

One of these is true, I'd love to know which one.

Masai and Bobby are most rewarded around the league for going deep or winning. This matters for future employment. Ownership is most rewarded for playoff tickets being sold year in and out and perception that the Raptors are not competitive right now means an immediate hit to ratings and merch.

I believe I am right based on motives. Accountants move not people driven by winning.

I don’t think there is any indication that ownership is meddling at all with the Raps or Leafs. I mean, since Richard Peddie and then Tim LieWeekly left, I don’t even know who the CEO of MLSE is. I very much doubt ownership is guiding Masai on how to do his job. I just don’t get that vibe at all.

Certainly no indication lol. At the TDL Bobby skipped town and Masai was shaking and talking trash with the worst body language I have ever seen from him. He even doubted himself and his abilities on camera. Hilarious stuff.

Point blank. I assure you 100% that's 100% that Toronto ownership interferes with the GM's etc. Absolutely no chance that they do not.

Masai has clout to tell them to f*** off. If they fire him, he can get a job tomorrow somewhere else.

this To me is sports conspiracy tin foil hat material. it’s just as plausible that masai just did not want to rebuild because it’s not his philosophy. Even when they got Barnes they weren’t intentionally tanking.

plus thinking that ownership shouldn’t have a say in how a team us run is naive. Pretty sure all Teams have board room discussions at the ownership level on how the team Should be run and what kind of moves are being made. im sure all the moves are orchestrated by Masai And bobby and the plan / vision of this team is theirs however flawed it may currently look.

as for these games I was kind of hoping they could sneak out a win in Denver and it was looking pretty close for a while but we got jobbed by the refs. Hopefully they get a w vs the lakers but it wouldn’t surprise me if they went 0-3.

They could have sold and started the rebuild in a great draft. If it's Bobby and Masai that want this, they are dumb and simply hit the jackpot with Kawhi, the only reason we won. If it's the board that wanted to keep the profits going another year, the organization is lost and we'll get our next Championship 50 years from now. It's been the trend here for the richest Franchise in Hockey and shared ownership with the Raptors.

But hey, lets just ignore the common denominators, body language and borderline dumb actions of the recent Championship teams management.

Sold them on what? Being the next Detroit or Charlotte? In permanent purgatory. Philly is an exception. It’s very tough to come out of purgatory.

You guys gonna think any executive they hire is a moron. Bryan Collangelo, moron. Rob Babcock, moron. Glen Grunwald, idiot. Masai/Bobby, dumb. Who is out there that you guys gonna think is a genius and super smart and going to rebuild this team perfectly?

OG, Fred and Trent should have been moved this season. That's who should have been moved on. Masai gives a presser about sign and trade at the end of season and play in BS. What nonsense you could tell he wasn't even buying what he was trying to sell. Guy trades a 1st for Poeltl, why?

I don't believe for a second that Bobby or Masai are dumb. I do 100% believe that Bell and Rogers want to keep it going even if it is just a garbage treadmill team. There isn't even a star on the team right now, Pascal is a #2 option only and the guy isn't great under pressure situations.

Your theory makes some sense but on the other hand, I really don't see Masai singing on here without having the authority to do what he thinks is best. Whatever it is that's happening, it's weird.

Very weird, they had all the assets available to do a fast reboot and contend in short order. Hardly anyone liked the moves on other ball forums either. Like you said, it's weird.

Rob Babcock was a disaster of a GM. moron isnt a bad term to use for him.

I do agree with your take on Nba purgatory though. There are so many teams that can never get out of the basement regardless of draft picks . others would be Indiana, charlotte, Sacramento, Orlando, Houston. Chicago. Gosh some of these teams haven’t done anything in decades. It’s crazy.

i would have preferred they go for a high draft pick this year also, but at the same time I can’t fault masai And bobby for giving this squad another kick at the can given that a significant portion of the players have championship rings.

Colangelo was definitely a moron. Same for babcock and Grunwald.

completely disagree about Colangelo. He made some very shrewd moves and essentially turned the franchise around. He lost his way down the line and ultimately it didn't work out, but for a while he was looking and performing like a top GM. Placing an importance on international players and scouting was very smart and effective. Let's not forget that he brought in a young Masai Ujiri. Even Glen Grunwald had his moments. He built the Vince Carter team that came within a shot of the semi finals. To dismiss those guys completely is short sighted. They had legit success.

Feels like the front office is all in on a very average roster. All the numbers this season bear that out. Don't think Poeltl moves the needle much at all. Team just isn't good enough. Problem is that they be committed to this top 6 or 7 guys who have limited upside as a group.

Not sure what the impetus behind competing for 1st round exits, the reason is irrelevant to me. The product on the court is suffering and my interest is quickly declining. I suspect a change in front office will be required to change the direction. Could take couple more years on that end.

I would pivot towards non US players as much as possible especially Canadian talent in your supporting core. There is a lot of local talent that our team ignores intentionally it seems. Unacceptable.
