I don’t think there is any indication that ownership is meddling at all with the Raps or Leafs. I mean, since Richard Peddie and then Tim LieWeekly left, I don’t even know who the CEO of MLSE is. I very much doubt ownership is guiding Masai on how to do his job. I just don’t get that vibe at all.

When the Unholy Alliance bought MLSE from the Teachers Larry Tanenbaum took over as CEO of MLSE, he's very hands off obviously.

Feels like the front office is all in on a very average roster. All the numbers this season bear that out. Don't think Poeltl moves the needle much at all. Team just isn't good enough. Problem is that they be committed to this top 6 or 7 guys who have limited upside as a group.

Not sure what the impetus behind competing for 1st round exits, the reason is irrelevant to me. The product on the court is suffering and my interest is quickly declining. I suspect a change in front office will be required to change the direction. Could take couple more years on that end.

I would pivot towards non US players as much as possible especially Canadian talent in your supporting core. There is a lot of local talent that our team ignores intentionally it seems. Unacceptable.
There are some nice pieces in the starting 5 but I don't think they mesh too well as a group. Furthermore, the bench is awful. Raps were doing very well finding and developing players. Now, they aren't which has resulted in a very weak bench. I don't know if it's a developmental or scouting issue, but it needs to be fixed.

FVV, Trent, and Poeltl are free agents. FVV and Trent will make too much for what they do.

It was a great opportunity to do a retool.

We could literally be sitting in a top 5 position pre-lottery in a historical draft if we would have just done a quick retool.

This is just so disheartening

Tannenbaum is the Chairman of the Board not the CEO.

After Leiweke, the president and CEO was Michael Friisdahl under the end f February 2022. He was replaced by interim president and CEO Cynthia Dane who is still in that role as they seek Friisdahl’s successo.

I think the team presidents like Ujiri and Shanahan report directly to the board these days and not to the CEO. So, basically the CEO oversees the parts of MLSE that are common to multiple teams or have nothing to do with any team.

The bench is ass

The only lineup that was better was the one with Koloko in Poetl's spot and Trent instead of FVV.

Again, this tells you that the problem is implementation as opposed to personnel.

We've been playing small ball so that our backups are only bigs and wondering why our small guys play too much and why the backup smaller guys don't succeed.

If we ran:
Poetl - Siakim - OG - Trent Jr - Barnes as a starting group, then threw Fred on to start the rotations, it would still allow him to play big minutes, but would give the bench guys a real PG (bonus that Fred can be a greedier scorer, which could maximize his game since a large part of the criticisms he faces are around shooting too much when Scottie/GTJ/OG/Siakim/Poetl have better shot options)

i know play in sucks and raptors are middling team going nowhere yeah yeah blah blah, but i am such a big fan of Poeltl. The guy is so fundamentally sound and just such so good in that traditional big man role. He is a so important to this team.

Watching them the last couple weeks pretty closely and they aren't as bad as some people are making them out to be (myself included with some reactionary criticism).

I don't know man i'm not sold, but i'm rooting for them and i like watching the games again.

Yea, man, me too. I said so before, but I kinda like the makeup of this team after getting Jakob. Sometimes you think they are good and can give a top seed trouble in the playoffs, and then they have a 1-4 road trip. I don’t know man. Like you, I am not entirely sold but I like this team.
