yeah i don't know why any fan would be committed to this team with any real investment. They are so desperate for a real shake up that would have to involve Siakam.

Until then, what's the point?
And how can Masai not accept that reality?

The worst part of all this is that the correct move would be to move Siakam and re-evaluate to see if the other guys even need to go, but it's starting to seem like we might take the core to closer to the deadline and force an all or nothing call.
Any NBA manager that isn't a zombie know that these moves need made. I refuse that Masai is a zombie GM, but absolutely believe that they are trying to keep selling names from the championship team while they can. They are riding the profits and feel taking a step back will cost too much at the Bell Rogers LarryT level.

Pascal Siakam has been Masai's personal project from the minute he entered the league. I have a suspicion part of it is that Masai is fighting between his desire to keep a player he's very close to and the knowledge in his head that Pascal has to go for the team to take the next step...

Ownership has to play the long game, or at least look at the mid term, and recognize that being stuck in mediocrity is the hardest thing to sell to the market. If there is a need to take a step back for a couple years, the fans would hang in with the team.

This Raptors team is the definition of Vanilla.

There is no depth on this team. There hasn't been any depth since the past 3-4 years at least. This front office can not stop evaluating and they're likely going to be trading O.G and Pascal at a much much depreciated cost.

Having no shooters to space the floor is death in the NBA today. Shooting 18% from 3, and 0% when it isn’t Scottie or freaking Precious shooting is pathetic. The 905 are also ass and we have no picks. Masai and Bobby have overstayed their welcome.

Blame to go around everywhere this year - from management who I blame the most because of creating a team that has no depth, and no shooting at all. Coaching has also been pretty subpar to average, but it's tough to coach a team that has no shooters on it!

Bobby and Masai should be on notice because the championship grace period is beginning to run out. They've been very passive towards improving the team and building any type of bench. We've also stopped developing our players effectively like we used to. I also think retaining O.G and Siakam until now when they're so close to FA is a fireable offense on its own.

Masai talks about parity in the league for being the reason he acquired Jakub, but again, a fireable offense considering what we gave up to get him. Could have easily just stood pat, and get a higher pick and drafted Derrick Lively, a younger and cheaper talent, and defensive beast.

Can't figure it out but Toronto seems like a place where good shooters go to die

Under new coach Darko Rajaković, the Raptors hoped a more team-first, free-flowing style would lead to success. There has been a strong belief in the trio of Barnes, Siakam and Anunoby across every level of the organization, and officials were confident a new style of play would lead to more success and victories.

“There’ll be no selfishness this year,” Ujiri said before training camp.

Teams such as the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers are expected suitors for Siakam or Anunoby but believe Siakam appears to be the likelier player to be dealt, league sources tell The Athletic. Siakam, 29, is earning $37.9 million in the last year of his Raptors contract this season while Anunoby, 26, has a $19.9 million player option for next season that he will almost assuredly decline to enter free agency.

The Hawks held intense conversations with the Raptors surrounding a Siakam deal over the offseason, as The Athletic reported, and the Pacers and Kings have both checked in and engaged at different points with Toronto over the last year. For the Kings, a better start to this season than a year ago (12-8 this season compared to 11-9 last season en route to a 48-win campaign) provides confidence that they can grow internally rather than compete for the expected cost of talents such as Siakam and Anunoby.

A season ago, the Raptors elected to play through a trying campaign and forge ahead with efforts to compete come playoff time. They ultimately lost guard Fred VanVleet for nothing as a free agent to the Houston Rockets. How will the Raptors’ front office handle two big-time free-agents-to-be this time around?

Around the league, many expect the Raptors to scan their options up until the trade deadline. And negotiations with the Raptors will always be, in the words of one rival executive, “a game of chicken.”

You can say this until you are blue in the face and it won't make it true when there is evidence to the contrary.

The Raptors issue is not depth. Their issue is the specific pieces don't fit together (which is why they were evaluating and why they are likely exploring trades now).

Something to keep in mind: The Raptors 3 point shooting woes are a few guys shooting slightly below what they likely should and 1 guy destroying their 3 point shooting. That same player is creating spacing issues over and over again.

A couple of points to this:

Scottie Barnes is 21st in WS, with the 3rd best TS of Toronto's starters. Toronto's 4th and 5th best shooters are 1st and 3rd in FGA/G respectively. They are also the weaker 3 point shooters than two of the 3 other starters (keeping in mind that Poetl doesn't shoot 3s and isn't at all part of the spacing problem because what he does is unique).

Schroeder is a limited guard (which is why he is paid the way he is). He replaced Fred who was more dynamic in ability, but less dynamic in what he actually was bringing (whether that was Fred or the system he was in).

Scottie and OG should be the Raptors 1-2 if they want to see if it is time to blow things up. The second unit shows the same kinds of problems. Because Trent largely plays with starters, and a huge amount of the inside minutes are occupied by Siakam, his numbers look terrible (because a huge percentage of his shots are from 3). Trent and Scottie can work together because Trent is more of a cutter, where Scottie likes the post and pick and roll.

Boucher is Boucher. People like to crap on him, but he's an excellent big man, who is an incredible role player.

Precious is up and down offensively, but a huge part of that is that Precious also plays a similar role to Siakam. This is a harder fit, because unless Precious learns to play more of a Poetl-like role, Achiuwa doesn't fit this team unless Siakam is gone and he only plays when Scottie is off the floor.

Flynn is getting better all the time. He has actually become a decent backup PG. If he could cut the turnovers back even more, he'd arguably become the Raptors best PG.

Dick is going to get better. For him, it is largely confidence (and again, he's playing a lot of the same role as Trent, which is fine together, but terrible for each individual).

This is the most spectacular trade position summary I have seen.

It highlights which players on which teams are eligible to be traded and when the ones who aren't become eligible.

It highlights what the trade rules are for each team.

It also highlights what role each of the players plays.
