Can a super tall and lanky guy like Wemby stay healthy and have a long career? Looks like the guy is built like a stick figure.

It's to be determined.. same with Chet Holmgren. Guys are talented beyond belief for their size but I cringe everytime they land awkwardly with those toothpick limbs. When healthy and developed they will be scary, Wemby already is from what I've seen.

Not a big nba guy but what’s the expectations from the raps this year? Tank? Bottom 5? Bottom 10? Squeak in a playin spot? Top 10?

Vegas has the win total at 36.5 (expect the over unless they tank and trade off guys like siakam, then it could be 60 loss territory) I would say reasonable expectations are somewhere between battling for the final locked in playoff spot at 6, and fighting for their play-in lives. If it all goes to hell better hope they really bottom out as they owe San Antonio their first rounder as it’s only top 6 protected.
Basically they’re stuck in the mushy middle being a treadmill team, funnily enough that’s the exact thing that Masai and Bobby vowed to avoid.
In their defence their plan seems to be to acquire a top dog in trade and stay good enough while waiting to do so, which is valid because top end players aren’t looking to go to bottom feeders they’re looking to go to upper middle to top teams to put them over the top, so outright tanking doesn’t seem possible right now as constructed.

Interesting game. At times they looked pretty bad. Malachai Flynn doesn't seem to have it. Bench in general seems thin and perimeter shooting leaves a lot to be desired.

But then again they won and there were some great moments. I thought they defended well and shroder seems like a good PG. Barnes was great and siakam looked good too. Achiuwa came up big at times thankfully. I think Dick can be a great piece to this team given how much they could use a reliable outside shooter. He just needs to find his feet which i think he'll do. He almost scored a beautiful first NBA shot.

Nice to get the first one, especially at home. Barnes showing his all round game.

Schroder is a nice pickup. Should fit good with the current roster.

I disagree with this. The team won despite poor shooting (which they wouldn't have last year).

There were a lot of positives and the biggest negative to me was Pascal, who at times bought in and looked great, but at times started playing hero ball. There's a reason why he was 5th best on the night (slightly ahead of Trent's poor shooting game)

I actually liked Flynn's game, but he got hit with some pretty poor foul calls by the officials. Take out the bad calls, and he's a net positive out there for the Raps.

Dick played two minutes, did some good things, but couldn't get the ball to drop.

There were definitely nerves involved for everyone, so I'm not going to judge the bench on 1 game, but if we can build off of this, we could actually have a bench. Keep in mind that this was a terrible shooting game, but the shots the Raptors missed included a lot of high percentage shots where nerves got the better of them.

On the positive side, there was Schröder who looked a lot like Lowry out there offensively, OG who seemed to be the biggest beneficiary of the new structure, and Barnes who, despite not shooting well, got some easy baskets to keep him in the game and came up big on the defensive end.

Barnes point total O/U for last nights game was 15.5

That play right at the end of the game was hilarious for anyone holding a over ticket

This team was definitely more enjoyable to watch last night. The unselfish play of everyone on the court was a breath of fresh air.

Schroder looked great in his debut as well.
Just an fyi for people here, his last name is either Schröder or Schroeder. For a German name, adding an e is the acceptable spelling in you omit the accent (not Schroder)

GTJ needs to step it up. We’ve seen him be an impact player before and now is his time to shine. Malachi is garbage and shouldn’t be in the league.

I thought Malachi played well. 3 of the 4 fouls against him were bad calls. He looked good with the ball in his hands playing second PG to Barnes.

Lots of guys struggled with their shots, but some of that was Rudy Gobert (one of the best defensive C in the league altering shots from in close) and some was nerves. It'll be a few games before we really see what we have.

Overall I was pretty pleased with how we looked. I came in with moderate expectations.

Schröder is a great addition. He's made me completely forget Freddy (and Kyle).

Barnes was terrific. Looks just like I expected he would - forget about last year. I loved the way he wasted clock under the net with about 20s to go!

Flynn has always scared me. Maybe that's why I thought he played pretty well.

OG and Precious were very good.

Not a great night for Siakam or Poetle, but nothing glaringly bad either.

GTJ? Probably (hopefully) just an off night.

It's only one game, but it went our way and that's what counts at the end of the season.

Raps play the Bulls tonight

It will be interesting to see how the rotation works in game 2.

The Bulls are theoretically the better team, but we'll see how the combination of Poetl as a rim deterrent and OG/Scottie to guard Lavine/DeRozan works out.
