first game today.

excitement level off the charts.
Really? Aren't we sort of stuck where Masai said he doesn't want to be - zero chance of contending in the near future, not bad enough to get high picks (paraphrasing, don't remember his exact words)?

I'm a little bit excited anyway, I like basketball and always interesting to see new players, especially rookies and I definitely look forward to seeing what our new Dick can do ;) but my excitement level is nowhere close to "off the charts".

i was being sarcastic which i guess doesn't reflect properly in text.

That said i will watch tonight and generally will keep my peripheries on this team just because i have been on the ride since year 1. This should be a throw away year, but maybe just maybe there will be some pleasant surprises.

I thought Dick is not expected to be in the rotation? Or did I misread what Josh Lewenberg wrote on TSN.ca?

Throw away for what? It's not like they will be signing Giannis next summer. What's the plan here?

My sarcasm detector is broken. I'm somewhat engaged because there's some suspense - will we make the playoffs or not. But big picture, yeah not much there.

I haven't been following so I have no idea. I'll definitely be disappointed if I don't get to see him play tonight though, I guess we'll see.

I still don’t know what Scottie Barnes is supposed to be eventually. Is he a star ala Kawhi Leonard? Or is he a support player to a star? I was hoping he takes a big step this season and becomes a star player that can carry this team a bit. I am not sure what is reasonable?

There’s absolutely 0 reasons why we can’t sneak into the playoffs this year.
And at the same time, it's not a lock. So it's interesting! I mean I always watch the Leafs, even in the years when they have no shot at the playoffs so I have no problem watching the Raps, even if their chances at winning a title in the near future are zero. I don't see myself watching as often as I watch the Leafs but I guess I'll watch a few to start the season and see how it goes.

Who can say? Last year was a disappointment, definitely hoping to see him take a big step this season!

Well, if he takes a big step that would be huge. Then maybe this team can go a couple of rounds deep into the playoffs?

Game time. The excitement and energy around here is palpable.

Lot of empty seats too. Just an observation.
People are pinched more than ever and with the Raps underperforming last year while bringing back the same guys mostly minus FVV there's just not a lot of hype. Hopefully they can embrace the underdog role once more and make some noise with the new coach and added depth.
