2 years after the fact I hope Kawhi is content with his decision to go home. Harden to the Nets has effectively shut down the odds of him winning a title in Clipper land. Not a Raptors fan but living in the city it would've been cool to see them defend their title properly with their best player. I would've taken last year's Raptors squad + Kawhi over every other team in the league except maybe the Lakers. If he had stayed there's a good chance he would've been tied with Lebron in FMVP's by now

Maybe there's still hope that Masai will stay in Toronto? I thought he was gone but now, not so sure anymore.

What does Masai see outside of Basketball? It seems like he's really trying to change things in Africa, and maybe those are drivers for him moving on from Toronto into a more governmental/political role?

The Raptors are smart to lock up GM Bobby Webster, but Masai Ujiri’s decision could be months away | The Star

It could very well be May or even June before Ujiri’s near-term future is decided one way or the other, and it would only follow what this group has always done: Bide its time and deal with things on its own timetable, not that of anxious outsiders.

Minority owner Larry Tanenbaum told the Star months ago, when he received a lifetime achievement award from Sports Business Daily, that there is an order to things.

“It was his and my game plan to secure his management team extension before his own,” Tanenbaum said at that time.

Now that’s done and Ujiri should be next. But if there’s one thing for sure, it’s that it won’t happen in a hurry.

If it doesn’t work out — if Ujiri is presented with a challenge to his leadership skills that he can’t pass up, a distinct possibility given his age, basketball success and awareness of societal issues that goes far beyond sports — he has done what any good president should do. He has taken care of the people who made him what he is, rewarded them for their own excellence and put in place a long-term succession plan that can withstand his departure.

No one is saying he’s going, and there are no tea leaves to be read. If the recent history of this franchise doesn’t prove that it takes its time before making giant moves, nothing will. But regardless, the pieces Ujiri wants in place, the pieces he put in place, are in place.

And Webster is the linchpin.

Ujiri is the public face, the spokesperson, the personality who drives the Raptors and, to a large degree, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment on issues that go far beyond basketball. But the basketball team is not an autocracy.

Ujiri does not make any decision in a vacuum, and the 36-year-old Webster is an invaluable resource and partner in that entire process. The married father of two, hired out of the NBA league office in 2013 by the Raptors before being elevated to GM in 2017, is as responsible for building the team as his boss. He provides opinion on every transaction, handles the day-to-day operation and has the perfect demeanour for running a team.

Countless times, in private conversations, he’s preached patience about players and personnel, contemplative always but also aware of the need to make big, hard decisions when necessary.

Out of the big 3 he’s probably the least of a little bitch. I actually really like KD

Most of the superstars out there act like arrogant pains. Durant's not the worst, but he's also not the best either.

Pfft, Lowry bleeding under the eye and there was no call.

Refs gonna ref.

EDIT: ahh, he got elbowed on the defensive end.

Still, he was getting mugged by 2 guys and got no call.
