Poor by NBA standards is one thing but Thomas is poor by LA fitness standards. As BAM said, the net returns haven’t been pretty. In fact, they’re downright ugly. I’m not a stats guy but weighing his impact vs the other wings on the team is pretty staggering. The numbers definitely match the eye.

All these ‘plugs’ you speak of make far more positive impact than Thomas and it’s not even really close.

Well if you look at the advance stats, Watanabe is a disaster, Davis is meh, while Thomas is at least a plus in BPM and Vorp. I looked at Thomas from last year, since he hasn’t played much this year. I’m no stats guru but I think you are overblowing how bad he really is. On a team starved for offence, i just find this puzzling.

maybe I have no idea what I’m looking at, but maybe someone familiar with these stats can enlighten.

I’m not a big stats guy, either. I just referred to net rating that BAM brought up which weighs offense vs defense per 100.

They’re starved for more paint scoring and free throws. They already shoot the 2nd most 3’s in the league at 9th efficiency. They need to be better in the paint at both ends. Thomas doesn’t help.

Trade restrictions lift Feb 6. Have to think they’re looking to use their roster spot on a big that can box out/rebound and hopefully be at least a decent screen and roll defender. Baynes gets killed.

Baynes has been a slight disappointment, he’s looked better recently though. Thought he did a good job on Bam. You are right though, they need a paint defender. If they think they can contend I would love Drummond.

Yeah, Baynes is good against bigger interior bigs and will be a useful backup but they need a more mobile player to guard players like Turner that play on the perimeter as well. Boucher just isn’t big enough to guard most centres.

I’ve always been against the idea of Drummond but as an expiring contract if he comes cheap, I’d do it.

They should have signed Cousins or Thompson this off season when both Ibaka and Gasol were known to be leaving. Baynes should have been brought in as a second option instead of Len.

Cousins called the Raptors fans who cheered when KD got injured "thrash" during the 2019 NBA finals, Raptors was probably in the very bottom of his list of NBA teams he would prefer to sign with.

19 games in, 4th worst record in the league, 2 games out of last place and virtually no shot at winning a title this year or next. I hope Masai knows the smart thing to do is trade Lowry + Powell and aim for Suggs/Cunningham.

And either start playing Flynn or send him to the G League
