This feels like the part of the movie where all hope is lost, then a sign out of nowhere appears (Foligno) and it leads to a happy ending?

I hope?
Honest to god, when I was a kid, my dad wanted me to be a Habs fan. My mom, is a leafs fan and I decided to like the leafs. Why the f*** did I do that
Being a Habs fan would have been better though?
Other teams ok but common les blue?

LOL I still remember someone starting a thread like this before the 18 wheeler went of the cliff. tread carefully there....

Lol PL if they win one game the 18 wheeler nonsense is mute because it just wouldn’t be mathematically possible, the odds of it actually happening are less than 5%. So many variables would have to occur including montreal playing lights out down the stretch too. What are the odds both Vancouver and Montreal win out and Toronto drops 9? I’d say slim to none

In fairness tonight was 3 bad goals and a critical penalty to a key penalty killer late in the game.

Most teams don't overcoming 3 bad goals.

I suppose. But it was the same story last game, and the one before that.

I mean the last win we simply outscored the mess.

The bad goaltending hides a lot of the other decencies imo.

do you think Vancouver wins out and Toronto loses every remaining game this season? Even if that happens Montreal still has to win a bunch of games too. It’s so unrealistic and I can’t believe people are even entertaining that a scenario like that would happen.
You think the NHL will put up an X for the Leafs if we win one more game? How much we betting?

The next couple of games against Winnipeg are so incredibly important. If we win them we put ourselves in an excellent position to retain first place during our crucial last stretch. If we drop them, I could see us falling below Edmonton as well and finding ourselves uncomfortably in third.

Obviously I want those games to be wins, and I'd like to finish 1st in our division, but at this point I just wanna get to playoffs with a healthy lineup & a goaltending having stepped up. That last part seems like wishful thinking at this point in time, but that's really what we need. Our only 2 prolonged losing streaks this season have come during stretches of unbelievably poor goaltending.

Just get healthy.

Unless Simmonds plays physical, he's completely useless.

Jumbo looks like a train wreck.

Does Keefe not see this or does he need to borrow Dubie's glasses?

Get them out of the lineup. Completely useless.
The coach is handed these guys, he didn't scout them and bring them in. Seems like a Shanahan move to me - that guy is proving to be not so bright.

Yes, the Leafs would be great if they had players who were really good at one of the most critical positions in hockey, despite us having no money to pay them.

We can't afford Andersen next year, let alone anyone magically better.

How do we think this is going to go?
$ ≠ skill. Do you really think Binnington is a $6M goalie?

Toronto is not easy to play against in the way you think.

Teams hate playing Toronto as they are a good sized fast team that runs teams ragged and skates them into the ground.

Teams love playing Toronto as they have almost the worst save% in the league on routine scoring chances the last 3 years. Other teams literally dont have to work hard to get goals on Toronto due to their goaltending. THATS what makes Toronto easy to play against.
Any chance you have those stats on hand?

Canucks (39 games with 39 pts), max. pt is 73. So, it is not 1 game to clinch.
BTW, I don't think leafs will miss playoff

sorry I keep forgetting Vancouver hasn’t played same amount of games. I was doing the math based on Calgary in 5th

Tavares-Nylander line was buzzing all night

A line is made up of three players. Same with 34 and 16.

Second line has had:
Gally
Kerfoot
Simmons
Robertson
Hyman
Petan

At some point you have to decide what your lines are and let them develop chemistry.

It will be almost impossible for us to do without losing an important piece. And the only one of the big 4 with a tradeable contract is Nylander, so we're pretty screwed because it's very clear how critical Nylander is to our offense.

Basically, the team will just become significantly worse to retain the same goaltending we already have.

I just meant to get him back off IR. I don't want him, Hutchinson or Rittich anywhere near here next year.

You guys are panicking. The leafs
will have a total of 6 draft picks in the next 2 years. Dont worry their set up good. Relax thats good GM.

Ya, but look who's making the selections, the same guy that manage to secure Thornton, Simmonds, Riddick, Engvall, Riddick, and best of all, Keefe.

Watching tonight's goaltending performance was like blowing up a balloon, letting it go and watching it zigzag across the room and watching it crash to the floor.

Sure, but how many cheap number 1 goaltenders are growing on trees for teams that have terrible goaltending prospect depth and a terrible track record of developing talent in house?!
