Toronto is not easy to play against in the way you think.

Teams hate playing Toronto as they are a good sized fast team that runs teams ragged and skates them into the ground.

Teams love playing Toronto as they have almost the worst save% in the league on routine scoring chances the last 3 years. Other teams literally dont have to work hard to get goals on Toronto due to their goaltending. THATS what makes Toronto easy to play against.

Unless Simmonds plays physical, he's completely useless.

Jumbo looks like a train wreck.

Does Keefe not see this or does he need to borrow Dubie's glasses?

Get them out of the lineup. Completely useless.

We’re bottom 4 in the league in hits/60, and I’d imagine similar for fights. This team is not gritty at all, we’re in the conversation for softest team in the league.
Yeah, this idea that we got "grittier" is absurd. It's something that people who have no idea what "grit" is would say.

will you stop saying the fans are the reasons Dubas brought in who he did, this is the worst take of all time.... the lengths people will go to its sad.... if he is listening to the fans than he should be no where near this team what nonsense.
The whole notion is so Pejorative Slured they must be trolling. At least I hope they are, yikes.

Campbell has fallen back to earth and been soft on a few goals and Rittich was real bad tonight but it's a convenient scapegoat for a lot of the other horrible factors that have contributed to the Leafs struggles.
It's hockey and things all play together, but you look at this series and goaltending was a huge issue. Take Holtby out and just look at the goals allowed.

We allowed 8 goals by our goaltenders. 5 of them were just outright weak. Not "would have been nice to get a save" type goals or "goalies stop the majority" but routine save type goals.

Still we weren't good tonight and I'm real sick of Marner and Matthews mailing it in whenever they want a week off.

What if Vancouver wins out? Magic number is still 6.5 games

do you think Vancouver wins out and Toronto loses every remaining game this season? Even if that happens Montreal still has to win a bunch of games too. It’s so unrealistic and I can’t believe people are even entertaining that a scenario like that would happen.

I have T greens email address still, my partner, has his cell phone number.

Lets take a positive here.

He was a great leaf in the dressing room everyone knew he was going to stay in the game.

AND, we just handed this guy two huge wins. The Toronto Maple Leafs just saved this guy's job.

HUGE. He has a great family great guy, so, yeah, I am happy for him.

AS for our LEAFS.

Two huge gaffes tonight. Number one, dress Campbell, unless he stated, please don't start me. You start him.

Number two, you create a brand, an identity, of attacking anyone who attacks any of our players.

That was not done.

Perfect game for a CHARMIN like Willy to look good for some minutes.

I don't care what anyone says about Nylander, to me, you trade him to a team that likes his hair, before he goes bald like his dad.

Amazing talent, show me one CUP winning team with a guy like that on the roster.

Congrats to Travis Green, Corse and Tucks, say he was one of the best ever in the dressing room

Well good for him. What however did we lose tonight.

Respect. Throughout the league.

WE laid an egg on Campbell, we showed HYMAN, hey, you are an old anomaly so to be close to your family sign with BUFFALO and show that you can turn around a whole team

AND we didnt dress one player with a pair that took a run, at one player, that was on the team chuckling when their weirdo psycho dman, almost killed the guy.

So to summate, a loss, who knew.....

Loss of respect. FOR goaltenders globally.

Not even an aggressive face wash for any CANUCK.

No encouragement, to say a ROBERTSON, and lay someone out.

So what does this all point out to.

Any wise speculator would bet on the lEAFS to win the CUP.

WHY.......guys, I am in enough trouble here.

But yeah, LEAFS to win the STANLEY CUP.

67, We were awful and dead last. Now, we are awful but somehow in first place.

But yeah, LEAFS to win.

Build up those odds.

This team used to play well after a loss. Now we lose 4 and still suck.

Don't invest your emotions in this team ..that's my advice. They don't deserve it. Make them earn it.

5.

Feel like 6 since the last game they won they gave up 5 goals to the Sens.

The Good: JT-Willie got it going on, this team will be great once all the boys are in the lineup Buster, Foligno, Mik great adds but the subtracts will be better

The Bad: WTF goaltending! we don't need no stinking goaltending, this could be the achilles heel, still though the D has to own the Leafs crease

The Butt Ugly: I just spent 5 days in the hospital and I have to see something like this the first night home

Leafs are 1-13 with Skilliter as referee, is this a thing? - Sportsnet.ca
Was it skilliter again? Then what I said on first page makes total sense. He just gifts games to whatever team plays Leafs. Disgusting punk.

Well the absolute horrific utter trash powerplay is also a thing.
I actually thought tonight was the best our PP looked in a long time.

Thing is we got f***ed over out of multiple opportunities thanks to garbage reffing.

Fix this tinker with that and still this Dubas team repeats the same as the last 2 seasons.
Early on look great, thats when everyone plays pond hockey.
Middle season slippage showing as teams tighten up and less open ice.
Late season Leafs fading as checking is tougher, even less open ice and hitting and grinding pick up.
Playoffs? Well I don't expect much different again except there is no excuse not to finally win a round.
The core is what Dubas refuses to change and that is what needs to be done.
The chemistry as well as the cap distribution is not right and if Dubas cannot see it then he needs to go as tinkering will just change the characters in a too familiar story.

LOL I still remember someone starting a thread like this before the 18 wheeler went of the cliff. tread carefully there....
I like to think I'm an optimist but there truly doesn't seem to be any embarassment too low for this fanbase to suffer through.
First all season to missing the playoffs in the last ten games just feels like such a Leaf thing to happen.

Horrible.

Oh it’s VERY concerning. Campbell magic may be over, Rittich is garbage, Andersen even if he comes back in is a notoriously slow starter...which leaves us Hutch as our goalie going into the playoffs in a year we went all in .... I need some booze
I watch Rittich play tonight and it looks like a guy who has zero confidence.

A hit or two isn’t changing that fact that Rittich is letting in a slap shot from 30 feet out. A hit isn’t changing Rittichs positioning from not letting a pass get through him. Most games I’d agree with you that it was more then the goalies, but this game was the goalie
Maybe not in those instances. But hitting helps hockey teams win games. Especially in the playoffs. We don’t hit and we don’t seem to win playoff games either

Not even mad for some reason. Its the Leafs, so not at all....unexpected.
Not much time to turn it around before the playoffs and I seriously doubt they do.
That 3 game demolition of the oilers was the highlight of the season for me. They have been pretty ordinary ever since.

We always have someone to blame.
When was the last time a guy like Simmonds or bogosian or muzzin even laid a body check. Everyone stops when they join this team
Thornton and simmonds were running around at people. Neither of those things influenced the outcome of the game. The call on Brodie, which led to rittich forgetting how to play in net, led to us losing. The game was 3-2 and we just scored a shorty.

I mean Rittich gave up 3 absolute muffins tonight, Holtby didn't give up one (across two nights). Not really concerned about anything other than the goaltending. It will cost this team if they can't get average (yes - just average) goaltending.

If they get average goaltending on this 5 game skid they probably win 3 of 5
