Crazy atmosphere tonight for a weekday. Schmid really couldn't get a break out there.
Unh? He saved every scoring chances up until the last few minutes. He was one of the best players on ice tonight imo. Rocket made the most of their opportunities at the right moment. Schmid wasnt to blame.

Totally agree, I was convinced he wasn't giving up more than one.

Incredible turnaround. Houle said the season would start rough with the young kids and new vets.
Too me the turnaround started with the signing of Kaskisuo. Xhekaj helped as well.

Xhekaj went down two weeks or so before Kaskisuo played a game and that's when they started winning again (and that the D corps started playing better). Kaskisuo has been great though.

Has Mailloux learned to defend down there at all?

Production is unreal.. but it's always gonna be the other side of the ice that determines things for him.
It's still a bit of an adventure at times, but he's progressing. He'll never be awesome at it, but as long as the development curve keeps going up, he should be at about average level by this time next season, which is all he really needs to be with his offensive tools.

One thing I’ve noticed about Dobes, is that he uses his stick. That seems to be a lost art. It’s rare to see a goalie poke check or block passes from behind the net. I really don’t know who taught these guys to stop, but I’m glad Dobes still does it. So many scoring chances can be stopped this way. Allen let a guy come right in from his glove side a few games ago and tuck the puck in when a simple poke check would’ve stopped it.

When do we see Matheson in Laval? I am ready.

They should send Cole and Nick too! In fact, we should send all our best players to Laval. That way they get to learn that winning culture they talk about on tv and we greatly improve our odds at Celebrini :sarcasm:

Subban's rookie year in the AHL he had 18 goals 35 assists and 53 points in 77 games

Mailloux's pace over 77 games would be 20 goals 33 assists and 53 points.

Subban was obviously a more complete player, however he also played on a better offensive team with guys like Desharnais/Trotter who were near the league lead in points.

Just puts into perspective how strong this production is for a rookie D in the AHL.

I need to see Barron play a half dozen games to assess. Maiiloux is better defensively at the AHL level than Barron is at the NHL level, that's for sure.
Right but that's not really a fair comparison haha, just wanted to get a gauge on his defensive play so far
