Utah team nickname/colors/logo, mascot (and related marketing)

Yeti without an s makes sense to me. Yeti or Yetis are plural for the singular Yeti, same as Jedi or Jedis are plural for the singular Jedi.

But Mammoth without an s? That I don't get. Utah Mammoths.

And I wonder their shorthand chant will be let's go mams or let's go moths?

And please, let's keep the [insert sport here] Club name format on the other side of the Atlantic.

I hadn't really noticed it before but Utah Outlaws is a near rhyme, which is cute
This just seems really amateur hour to me.

And meh... Outlaws just feels way too generic as a team name, more like a placeholder.
it was really bizarre that they didn't include it because the reporting last week indicated that they got the trademark and it was always popular in public opinion polling, generic or not.

I think that they spent more or less the entire existence of the team planning for branding themselves as the Yeti(s) and in the absence of a well thought out fall back they tried to rig it out for HC because at least they've developed some brand ID with it but now they're being forced to backtrack

I think Outlaws is very appropriate for a team based in a state that is considered part of the Wild West. It was home to Butch Cassidy (a Mormon) and his gang the Wild Bunch amongst others. There is also something called the Outlaw Trail, sort of based on the Pony Express, basically a trail of places from Montana to Mexico that ran through Utah where outlaw s could resupply and get fresh horses and such.

If you do a web search for Utah Outlaws, there are articles and such on outlaws in Utah's history. Here's a link to one of them:

Outlaws is a good name. It makes sense. It's just sort of "weird" in the modern day because of the demographics of the state of Utah, but it really does make a lot of sense and is still rather cool. I think with Outlaws on the board, Hockey Club doesn't win.

"Outlaws" is a fine name.

But it's fairly generic, and doesn't really go with the existing colour scheme Utah has - the black and white are fine, but the blue doesn't really scream "outlaw".

As well I don't think Utah ever committed to taking the results of voting as being final.

Yeah outlaws is not something I associate with Utah. Also, it just seems like more of a minor league name. Like the XFL had a team named the Outlaws. As did a few minor league means in other sports.

Quite honestly I thought "Outlaws" was the name of a defunct CFL US-expansion team, but I think I was confused with the Las Vegas Posse.
