Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | With Klingberg in the Mix Who Are Our 7D After the Deadline?

Signing Saad eats up almost all of Vegas' cap which means that unless they play the weasel game again he will be their big addition this year. Last year they added Hanifan, Mantha and Hertl using shenanigans. Saad is not really in the same stratosphere.

Skinner earned over 100M. I don't think he going to care about the extra money. The guy has been a playoffs virgin his whole career
Is he fighting for a participation ribbon? I don't think sitting in the press box counts as breaking your "playoff virginity".

He's been scratched 5 times in the last 10 games largely losing icetime to Kapanen and then you have to factor in E. Kane coming back in the line-up plus whomever we add at the deadline.

Sacrificing money to win and be part of something bigger than yourself is one thing, sacrificing your next big contract to be a 14th forward who has no real role on the team is another.

Bowman is repeatedly failing to make impactful adds while obsessing over reclamation projects on the fringes of the roster. Whether this is because the GM fraternity wants nothing to do with him after certain events or because he lacks the wherewithal, we are once again watching a has-been get out maneuvered by much better executives. Katz really needs to ask himself why he keeps getting bamboozled like this, it’s such a bad look.

Sounds like you really need a girlfriend

He's helped the Oil get 3 points of the last 6. He also had a MASSIVE backcheck last game bailing out Bouchard stopping a 2 on 1.

Unless Knobby has a personal problem w/ him, his stock should be rising

I would honestly switch him and Arvy right now

Stauffer saying on his show that the Oilers have no finishing ability on the 2nd line. Maybe he's slyly hinting at us getting a 2nd line winger?

If we move Arvid and keep Kane on LTIR, we have 9M for an elite player

Not quite..... To my understanding we are not allowed to combine available/accrued cap space with LTIR relief cap space and spend it on one single player.

Dude you are dead wrong. The NHL PA is always pushing for players to take high salaries and avoid playing for heavy discounts.
Every extra dollar that McDavid makes, means less available to everyone else in the league.
Every less dollar that McDavid takes, means more available to everyone else in the league.
The players 50% share of the pie is a fixed amount.
Giving a player a bigger piece of the pie, means that much less for everyone else.
It's really quite simple.

Maybe it’s a message to the coach to try putting the guy that’s been scoring with almost no ice time (J Skinner) in the top 6

I know people obsess about team defence but I think we’re doing a disservice to ourselves by not giving Skinner that opportunity. It’s entirely possible that playing him in the top six won’t affect our defence at all. It’s more likely that the increased offensive output will outweigh any of Skinner’s negatives. You get 82 games before the playoffs to try these things out and we haven’t really done a good job of doing that. It would be nice to know what we have before the playoffs start.

Podkolzin sticks out because he isn’t and has never been a top six forward. He just doesn’t produce enough. Arvidsson isn’t producing either but he at least has a track record of being able to score.

I think Skinner is going to force Knob’s hand eventually. He had 5 points in 9 games (all at even strength) and was a +4 while playing less than 11 minutes a night in January. He’s fourth on the team in even strength goals.

That's tough. The goalscoring winger rental market might be thinner than the right-handed D market.

Zucker, Donato, Palmieri, Beauvillier, JVR?

Oof.
Why do they have to be a rental? The Oilers have space to add someone for multiple years. For once I’d like them to target an A+ premier player like the Carolinas/Colorados/Vegas’ of the world instead of a washed up / injury prone has-been / never-was.

Honestly, I’d explore trading Arvidsson if the right player was available

We are 3rd in the NHL. We have been winning more than losing. I personally think you are just trolling and want attention for something that isn't actually an issue. It's a personal agenda for you Everytime I read your posts, and quite frankly, 95% of us are tired of it. I am convinced, this is either GreatKeith, or a relative of his and I'm tired of reading this. Time for to add you to the 400+ I blocked on this site.

I think Klingberg will work and I am pretty sure a lot of people are overrating us needing a goalie.

We need a top six forward. Podkolzin is nowhere close and neither is Arvidsson

Give Savoie a chance to play in the lineup first. Then, decide on what to do with him
I don't disagree with that idea, but I'd also have no problem including him in a package to get a good top line winger or #3D with term that fits our needs. The cap rising this much gives you the option to go after a player with term rather than just getting a rental.
