Utah Hockey Club down to final 3 names: Hockey Club, Mammoth, and Outlaws (upd: Wasatch already nixed)

That’s your opinion. My opinion is that Utah hockey club is the worst name in the league. No imagination. Asking another hockey fan what team do you cheer for, “I’m a fan of the hockey club.” As you can tell, I don’t like it, JD.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I stand by mine that most North American club names are dumb. Nicknames are fine. But nicknames usually have a genesis from something pertinent. The majority of names in the league are just forced marketing ploys.

There are a lot of talented graphic designers out there, I'm sure they can come up with a suitably badass 'Outlaws' logo without fetishizing handguns. Don't think that makes them "bleeding hearts" for doing so

Also, I was intending for this team to be called the "Utah Rogues", which is less explicitly "criminal"-sounding, and while the logo is quite busy, I feel like integrating an old-school steam engine and making the "outlaw" a train robber type specifically would be a great way to make it uniquely "Utah"

Utah Outlaws would be perfect. Outlaws is the exact opposite thing I think of when it comes to Utah. But they also have the Utah Jazz. Utah is also the absolute last place I think of when it comes to Jazz music. So its fun to be ironic I guess.

How Utah Hockey Club is even a finalist is beyond me. Why a team would keep a generic name is odd. Then again I said that about Washington Football Team until they changed their name to Commanders, for which I wished they kept the generic name.

Outlaws seems to be the most palatable of the remaining ones.
