Tampas defense which was already shot last year looks bottom 10ish league now

Hedman --> top 10D in the league but his age and injury concerns are possible to lead to massive decline

Mcdonut : #4/5D who is older than Hedman and isnt a guy you can rely on for tough matchups any more

Perbix --> 4/5D with youth and some potential still needs to take a big step

Cernak --> 3/4D whos pretty injury prone

The rest is nothing to write about

They should have dumped cirelli

Edit: oh they actually got value back lol. People said tampa dumped sergachev so thought it was straight salary move

Moser being in the deal gives another young 4/5D witj room to grow so defense isnt that bad and they got Geekie

I don’t get this? Unless sergachev has fallen off, this doesn’t seem like all that much for him?

Edit: nvm didn’t see all the pieces. That ain’t bad, but why are they trading serg?

They trade for McDonagh only to dump a better dman in Sergachev... that return is solid though

It sort of makes sense to get McDonagh to cover for a departing Sergachev.

Quite like what Tampa get back here in Moser and Geekie.

Why wouldn't you just keep Serg and have him for many prime years instead of a declining vet?

I think TBL needed to get some younger pieces and retool. Exactly what they do. Utah spends an expendable potential top 6 forward, a ood top 4D younger and cheaper than Sergachev and one of thei many 2nd rounders. Good thing for both teams.

Is Tampa clearing cap space for Guentzel? Or to re-sign Stamkos?
The two stabley cups say no. For Tampa. Thanks for your time here Sergachev. Sadly there was no room for you on pp1 with Hedman in front of you and McD is better at defenseman. Hopefully we are going all in for the last few Cup runs for this core and retool on the fly.
