Man admits to stealing pork from restaurant after police observe him eating it
TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — It seems hunger got the best of a North Tonawanda man, since City of Tonawanda police say they caught him stealing and eating meat from a restaurant.
At 3:15 a.m., police say they noticed a suspicious man in the parking lot of Smoke on the Water on Young St. The man had come from the rear of the restaurant.
When he was found, officers say they saw him eating a piece of meat — specifically, a barbecued pork shoulder that had been left on an outdoor cooker. Employees of the restaurant forgot to lock the padlock cooker, leaving it unsecured, police say.
After the man, identified as Donald Attanasio, 47, admitted to stealing the meat and having a “snack,†police charged him with petit larceny and trespassing.
He will appear in court at a later date.
