This is bad news as the more acid simply sitting in your stomach, the greater the chance of developing stomach ulcers and the like. Fortunately, the risk is not very great unless you chew A lot of gum so don't worry, unless you are a football coach.

please no i chew gum every day

It honestly can. When you chew, your stomach releases the acid to break up the food. But when you chew gum, there's no food to break up but your stomach releases the acid anyway which results in ulcers in do time.
