Ugh latest episode of Masamune-kun's Revenge was super good until the last 30 seconds when they dropped a plot bomb and tanked the rating by like 3-4 points/10 for me

Swear to christ if it doesn't recover miraculously from this it went from a 7.5 show to 4-4.5/10

I'm inching closer and closer to feeling like I might be able to tell a story using magical realism with coast salish roots

I've been reading more of it and learning about the genre. I feel that my greatest weakness in writing has been my inability or lack of desire to write a contemporary setting and create that sort of world. I think that it is time to break free of that but I still retain my passion for fantasy. The subtlety of magical realism really strikes a chord with me and I think that an interpretation of my peoples spirituality in a fictional, contemporary context may be analogous to the way that, in particular, Murakami writes and his worlds. I see a lot of potential and have felt the stirrings of a story there.

I want to bring out my culture in a space where there is enough suspension of belief for people to take it in earnest while telling a meaningful story that is subtly fantastical.

I don't have a clue about where it would go or what it would be about though.

I have felt this way about the genre for several years but thinking about it now I have to say, what a world we live in where the most appropriate genre that I feel would allow for my culture to be accepted is fantastical in nature.

I guess that can be said of the traditions of many cultures though. Maybe its just an aspect of historical happenings being brought forward into what we might consider contemporary
