Basil Hayden's is the lightest bodied bourbon whiskey in the family of Jim Beam small batch bourbons. Its 80 proof is in contrast with its three sibling brands of higher concentration (Knob Creek, Booker's and Baker's). Hayden was also an accomplished distiller and used a larger amount of rye in his mash than in some other bourbons. When Beam Industries introduced their small batch collection, among the four was Basil Hayden's, which uses a mash similar to that originally used by Hayden back in 1792.

While single malts exclusively use barley, blended whiskey can contain corn, rye and even wheat as their base. ... This allows a distiller to produce a blended whiskey faster, and for less money. As a result, the demand for blended whiskey is higher, despite the fact that the single malts have an obvious flavor advantage.

the only mix I use is water, and I only get single malt. Mixing with pop can greatly increase your discomfort the next morning due to the sugar content.

Jack and Coke is not a boilermaker.

A boilermaker is a beer and a shot, either poured into the beer or taken with the beer.

Drank a lot of boilermakers with Molson XXX and vodka in college

I usually dislike drinks like Jack and coke, but whiskey and ginger ale is so good.

I've been drinking wine more often than liquor in the past few years.

Mostly because I can get wine at the grocery store and the liquor stores are out of my way.
