I like the MV personally, but I can see why someone would find it a mess, but I don't think M&M was any better in that regard. Fancy flowed better but had an ugly set. I think Naive was really good at those fun, cheesy music videos for their older songs, but now that their music has changed, they needed to change their production to match.
And do people like the signal MV? I always assumed it wasn't well received. The concept was a fun idea but I thought the end result was a bit cringey. Likey and WIL are probably my 2 favorites from Naive.
M&M was an absolute mess too in terms of production, but it wasn't over CGI'd by a team of interns basically.
- The rocks around the space flower set are shaky. They move differently from the rest of the set, and as stated, sometimes they just start vibrating, almost like they did not correct for motion.
- The green screen contouring is very amateurish; the edges don't blend at all in certain scenes. Sure, some scenes like the Jeongyeon on a motorcycle scene have a "fake" background, but they should still correct the edges properly, and have better blend. The hairs, notably, shouldn't be as smooth as this, and there exist techniques to make this more natural. Also, for that specific scenes, there is no slight motion blur to give a sense of speed on Jeongyeon, and while it's a common "photography" effect (basically short exposure time for the front objects and long exposure time for the background objects), it's just poorly executed in this video format.
- Same issue with the space scenes, which on top of that, seems to use two different lightning sources; one for the green screen scene, and one for the CGI stuff.
- There's also a terrible artifact in the train scene where the train builds its path. Basically the grass is not fully leveled in front of the train, and the "cut" is not even constant along the edges, but it gradually corrects itself as the train moves forward.
- In the canyon scene, they projected the shadows of the canyon on the floor and the other canyon walls... but for the latter, it seems weird although not as bad as some other scenes. Mostly just a coloration/saturation thing with them trying to blend fake objects with real objects.
