I'm not talking about the album. Just ICSM. I was ready to rate it 95. Not chorus buildup, and the high note in the 2nd half of the chorus is absolutely out of place and seems to be there just to say "here, a high note to showcase jihyo/nayeon's vocal range, even if it doesn't fit at all with the rest of the song". Still very good overall, but enough annoying things to drop it to the 8.5-9.0 range for me.

The MV is atrocious again however, although the choreo is great.

The MV is absolutely attrocious. Like M&M's. Seems like JYP didn't want to spend on the actual MV set, and instead he just threw a bunch of special effects during the video editing. That looks very amateurish.

Have you heard the rest of the album? Shot Clock and Up No More are so good. Behind the Mask is good too!!

80's retro or not, it doesn't excuse poor and extremely lazy MV production. I didn't expect ZB level production. Notably, the scenes with the red flower (in space) are amongst the worst I've seen this year; it's simply terrible.

On the contrary, I judge them rationally - or, should I say, I judge JYP rationally. The production on their Twice MVs before this year was really good. It was really good for Itzy this year. But the Twice ones? Seems like they hired some intern to do the montages.

Song Review: Twice – I Can’t Stop Me

I Can’t Stop Me comes turbo-charged with a dazzling hook. Its teasers proudly unveiled this element, clearly confident about the song’s centerpiece. And, I Can’t Stop Me has every reason to be confident. The chorus is instantly memorable, harnessing an addictive melody. Its drive perfectly compliments the synthpop instrumental, delivering momentum without resorting to the kind of stale EDM build employed by so many of its peers.

I Can’t Stop Me’s only missteps occur during its pre-chorus, when the track slows to incorporate more modern percussion. It feels at odds with the general vibe of the production, and briefly blunts the energy. Luckily, this is a minor gripe, and we’re back inside that potent chorus before we know it.

But holy Jihyo, this song is excellent. La Di Da is one of my very favorite songs of the year, and I Can’t Stop Me follows that same sound but in its own memorable way. The retro synth sound fits Twice like a glove, and they ooze charisma with every line. That small faux pas on the pre-chorus is almost symbolic of the transition from modern percussion to retro sound over the year; it’s like we’re waving goodbye to one trend and welcoming another all in one song. The trap percussion sound is but a mere blip now. All hail the synth!
I don’t always agree with Nick on ratings, but I definitely believe that this song deserves its rating here. I’d personally put a 10 for bias which would make the song a 9.25 for me. I Can’t Stop Me is now on the short list of my favorite songs of 2020 now."

1) He was an expert on anything; he's nothing more than what any kpop fan is. He just posts about it, and while I do enjoy reading his reviews, I don't agree with everything.
2) He was actually commenting about the MV production. Big difference with the song. I have no issue with the song as a whole. It's solid - 8.5-9.0 like I said - just a few things that irk me enough to not rate it my highest ranking (9.5). The MV is objectively amateurish.

Regarding the rest of the album, it's solid overall, nothing I hate but nothing I'd put at 8.5 or above. Think 7.0-8.5 range for all the album.
