I consider myself a pretty worldly man but if I didn't watch the NHL I doubt I would know any Canadian cities other than Toronto and Ottawa. And even then I would probably only know Ottawa because when we did capital cities in geography in school it was an example of where the capital isn't the obvious one, like Australia where everyone thinks it's Sydney. If not for that lesson I would think Canada's capital was Toronto.

3d modeling still counts as programming. Not every developer just does web stuff. For example, some of my time is spent developing low-level utilities (i.e. programs intimately connected to the actual hardware) that run in closed environments; .NET and C# wouldn't be worth a shit in there.

I have no idea what it's about, could just be about catching up/networking, but I was admittedly intrigued and definitely took him up on it.

most of the work i do is script-based. i have some python skills, i can get around some templated C#, that sort of thing. but this is definitely an area where i'm weak and have been trying to get better, where i can. i'm not a great programmer (and don't really want to be a traditional developer). I'm much more fancied by the ops/networking/security side of things.
