Maybe if Windows didn't default to the always combine taskbar buttons and remove labels setting, then there wouldn't be a need for stupid hover-activated shit on the taskbar.

The point of the taskbar is to easily navigate between programs. Any added effort into using the taskbar, such as hovering over an icon to see all of the windows open in that group, runs counter to the idea of quick navigation.
