This isn't some amazing gotcha quote as much as it is a guy explaining why he did something while under the influence and Chappelle's Show editorializing it to make it funnier.
He's saying he won't do stupid shit for no reason, but he thought that he had a good reason for ruining Eddie's couch, presumably because he was so f***ed up. Later in that same interview, he says he ruined Eddie's couch because he knew he could afford another one.
Now, is that sound logic? No, but we're also trying to apply logic to the thought process of someone who was most likely freebasing cocaine.
