Our nominees tonight come from all corners of the plushiverse. From the record 6 Pokemon nominees, to the high-tech Tails from the hit film "Sonic the Hedgehog 3", it has been a great year for Build-A-Bear plushies. From West Coast plushies, to East Coast DC area plushies, and online ordered plushies, our nominees have come from all parts of the US to be here today.
[The crowd laughs and applauds.]

But before we get to the big reveal, let’s take a moment to honor the plushie pioneers who paved the way. [gestures to screen] The Teddy Bear, who taught us that hugs can mend even the toughest days. The Beanie Baby, which… admittedly gave us all unrealistic investment advice. [grins] And, of course, the timeless Sock Monkey—proving that even socks can live their best lives!
