His line is fine.
Id much rather see Caufield or Brink with Zegs/turcotte. Kaliyev is too much of a 1 trick pony... and while that trick is pretty good... caufield is a better overall hockey player with a shot thats just as good/if not better.

US has equal depth while having better elite talent. Canada doesn’t have the level of Zegras, Caufield, and Turcotte. I don’t think we have a Sanderson level of player on D either. Goalie is a saw-off.
The Americans are getting better every game. They are building. I don’t think we can match that.
Both bowen byram and jamie drysdale are better than sanderson by a wide margin.

Cam york 8s up there though. Hes looked great.

This was just the Sweden game no. 2 for the Czech team. I wouldn't be completely pessimistic through. The US team is traditionally the worst opponent for the Czechs, they usually get smashed out like this. I remember the team with players like Pastrnak, Vrana, Kase losing 0-7 too. Also, I would not take the 3rd period into consideration too much. They were already down there, with no organization in their game. They should analyze the 2nd. That was when the collapse occured. Until the second goal they weren't playing so bad. It was really a lot like vs Sweden. Now they simply need to focus on the Austria game to get into the QF, and if they make it, just be the will of the hockey gods done.

Sigh. Why couldn’t Montreal and Anaheim trade picks? Now I have to deal with Zegras in the Pacific division and Western Conference against the teams I support: Jets, Canucks and Sharks.

Turcotte and Kaliyev should be on another line. Zegras should be playing with Boldy and Caufield. Zegras and Booldy are the best forwards on the team and Caufield is capable of being the 3rd.

Caufield is the same. His best attribute is his shot, and when he's not scoring, he's not doing anything to help the team, he's a burden.

It's tough for USA because they have two of those players in Kaliyev and Caufield. They can't be on the same line, especially when neither of them are producing at the moment. They can't play in the more gritty, defensive roles, because neither of them are capable of playing that game. So you have to split them up in the top 6 and just deal with whatever the outcome is. Luckily, Zegras is the best player in this tournament right now, and the Brink line is exceeding expectations.

I like Byram and (to a lesser degree) Drysdale, but they are more offensively minded guys. Sanderson plays great all over the ice. I don’t see Bowman and Jamie taking hits to make plays. We don’t have that level of D man.

I could def get behind that... how would you set the 2nd and 3rd lines?

They both play 2 way hockey and theyre both way better.

I think we can get stuck on how great Cole is as a scorer, and miss how great he is as a set up guy. He’s got elite puck skills and vision. He’s maybe even better as a set up guy than a scorer?

I’m okay with your opinion, but I don’t see that in 200 foot game yet in any of our D. When one of those two takes a hit from a heavy forecheck to free up a puck let me know.

Boldy was setting up Caufield all game, and Berniers is great, and very unselfish. MTL fans somehow finding Caufield's linemates a problem is rich. I would propose moving Brink up to the second line/PP, and moving Caufield back to the bottom six.

Caufield can't play a bottom six role. Not only will he be even less effective, but you're messing up an excellent third line by moving Brink. Not very well thought out.

So we cheer for Sweden to beat Russia right?
To win the group? I would imagine the US would cheer for Russia and then take care of business vs Sweden. I believe goal differential is tie breaker. Unless we are aiming for second in the group then yes Sweden winning would be better.
