At this point it comes down to:

I don't care.

Whoever plays best gets a spot.

I am totally good with Loktionov, Olesz, Brunner, Tedenby, Josefson, Boucher, Matteau.....

You guys figure it out. I'm very, very happy that any or all of the above will be filling out a squad that already has Elias, Jagr, Zajac, Henrique, Zubrus, Bernier, Ryder and Carter.

you must not have been here this summer much.

Has Lokti's stock really gone down that much on this board over the summer? Also surprised at the somewhat lukewarm reaction for Brunner's PTO given how much this board wanted him signed a few months ago (even after we acquired Ryder and Clowe).

Hopefully he is fully motivated about earning a contract.

So many players, so few spots. It's exciting for sure.

Lokitonov is equivalent to Peters to 99% of this board now.

I think 99% of this board would like to see more than 28 games out of him before anointing him as part of the team's future. He could just as easily flame out and end up in the KHL at this point.

More like the 28 games he did play are written off as a complete fluke that Kovalchuk spoon fed him.

Loktionov comes in fresh to a new system, proves he can play with skilled players. Now is expected to go play on lesser lines so he can work his way up to play in the top 6 with skilled players. Makes perfect sense.

Devils sign Brunner; Lamoriello says in interview that the signing will create competition and possibly get some players to step up; Tedenby scores goal and plays good overall game.

Hmmmmmmmm...........

Interesting situation. I have always wanted Brunner but not with the terms he was demanding. So now there is an opportunity to sign him for less money and length of contract should he do well in camp.

Fayne is a very good defense men and even though he is an UFA after this season he should be retained because he is in the top 3 for NJ. DeBoer has a dislike for him just like Tedenby.

I have said many time Gionta is a favorite of DeBoer but doesn't belong.

I have never believed the medical reports from Lou or DeBoer. "Lower body soreness" out day to day turns into 3 months out. So I think Brunner is here for backup. What's with Elias having maintenance days while in training camp? What's happening or the truth re: Elias and Jagr.

We don't need a goon, like Barch or Janssen and I don't want Salvador or Clowe fighting let Carter and Bernier do the fighting. Score goals over fighting.

Volchenkov has to go sometime maybe now with a package.

Lots of possibilities and for once in a long time the NJ Devils have them.

Same here basically.

My original reaction was that we are trading Teddy for sure. Perhaps cause I don't see him as a Devil at all, even with last night game
Will Brunner fit is yet to be seen ...

this makes very little sense, but im good with it. if he makes us better, so be it. if we can snag a few draft picks with our surplus, even better

I love this move and want to see him stay but I don't know where he fits or who would go in his place. If it were me, I'd probably tell Barch and Little Gio to hit the road.

Sure will make things interesting from a competition standpoint. If he sticks, he could be a serious steal.

pretty stoked about the move too. hope he can prove he belongs.

I'd assume he will play every preseason game to see if he belongs.

77 Games plus 15 playoff games brings him pretty close lol

And the European Trophy, Spengler Cup and probably some preparation games. So yep if not 100 it shouldn't be that far...

edit>97 games played last season on Elitprospects, I'm not sure if he played pre-season games with Zug...

how quickly we went from a bare cupboard to an overstocked one. I still want to keep Tedenby around though, I think he is going to pan out big time.

He has proven far more then Josefson in less games... yet for the past 2 years people have been automatically writing in his name to the roster.

Just saying.

based on what?

Josefson is better defensively, better at faceoffs, and is arguably faster.
