I think that if others earn the spots in training camp, you need to let JJ and Tedendby go. I would try to trade them for picks

that doesnt make sense.

we are thin in the system at forward. trading them for draft picks is the worst case scenario IMO

Yes, but I think they'd be more likely to clear than to not.

I dunno, I think Josefson might get claimed.

Gionta and Barch

I would think a team like Calgary would claim Josefson. Their current center depth consists of Mikael Backlund, Matt Stajan, and a converted winger in T.J. Galiardi. They could keep Sean Monahan up this year as well.

Tedenby though......I wouldn't be surprised if he got claimed nor would I be surprised if he slipped through.

But I would send down Gionta and Barch as well. Might not be ideal to have two of Tedenby/Josefson/Olesz/Loktionov as healthy scratches, but you protect your assets and those guys will get opportunities when injuries/maintenance days occur. Trade opportunities will start to open up as the season progresses as well.

One thing that might work in the teams favor with Josefson and Tedenby if they're waived is, they're both on one ways. Same for Loktionov.

Some of the cheap budget teams out there might not wanna pick up guys who in case they don't stick, might have to pay them $600k-$800k a year to play in the minors. We shouldn't have any problem at this point, but some other teams might.

Last year to sneak Butler through, Lou had to send Tedenby down for the day and put him back on the main roster the next day. Larsson is our only waiver exempt player right now I'm pretty sure. At least that will be on the NHL roster. They could put Larsson on the AHL roster the day before the season starts, then bring him back up the next day while sending down whoever they have to waive.

I'm not sure that makes a difference. If they don't stick with a team that claims them, the'd have to be put on waivers again to be sent down, and we could just pick them back up if we wanted.

I need to know something here.....

I haven't been around for awhile so I need to get up to speed.

Two questions :

1.) Is Jagr out for the season or something?

2.) Is Brunner going to make the team because of Jagr's "soreness"?

No I think it's just to give us more depth. Jagr has went back to skating too as of yesterday.

Brunner was pretty meh tonight in 20 minutes of ice time. He needs to impress in these preseason games to get a spot on the team. I really want him here, so hopefully he convinces Lou and the coaches that he belongs.

IMO having Brunner on the team gives me the idea that Lou is not standing for ****ing around this year. We're not losing a really good first round pick, and will be icing the best team possible, thanks to funds from the new ownership.

Brunner looked pretty invisible tonight. Probably just out of place with only being with the team for literally 2 or 3 days. Hopefully he gets better. I really like The Nose.

Josefson and Tedenby would both be claimed off waivers unless Lou does that sneaky thing he did with Butler last year.

They are former/recent 1st rounders. Some team would take a shot on them.

Jagr is going to practice with the team tomorrow according to TG so yes he is fine.

With the constraints on roster spots, I really don't see a team jumping through hoops to scoop Tedy up. Doesn't seem worth losing other players, etc etc.

JJ on the other hand would definitely be claimed. I don't even think it is a question. There is no way we sneak him through unless Lou has some sort of excellent window when all 29 other teams are stuck roster wise.

I think what he did was sent down Tedenby last year (He was waiver exempt then) then put him back on the roster the next day and sent Butler down. I think that's happened. Larsson is really our only waiver exempt player right now that will definitely be in the NHL, so he can do that with him.

The Pens would probably claim him. Payback for stealing Uncle Jesse from them last year.

Can you imagine the meltdown if the Pens claimed Teddy and he lit it up. The horror :)

I hope that happens to watch everyone collectively lose their minds when TG tweets that Larsson has been sent to Albany.

I don't care anymore. Just give me the 12 best forwards and 6 best defensemen! And the two best goalies!
