Highligh packages are a trash way to get a feel for a game, I think it was the Bos and leafs games where the extended highlights for both games skipped the third period entirely.

The Canes dominated the first 10 mins of the game, the rest of the game was pretty even with the Sens having a distinct edge in the third.

The problem with the eye test is it tends to be impacted by emotions (especially when it comes to fans of one of the teams), sens fans were primed to have a negative view of the game based on the score and the first ten mins,

This works both ways of course, so some fans will think the team played great while other believe they played poorly, truth likely pies somewhere in the middle. Fancy stats aren't perfect, but saying they don't match your eye test isn't a strong argument against them,

When a team goes up they sonetimes just sit back and don't extend for offense and close out the game without expending extra energy.

That's what the Canes did, must have showed that Ottawa played better in the stats but it was never close.

Carolina got up a couple, put the Sens in a sleeper hold. And that was game.

Lmao just starting and a minute in, they've referred to him as a mega star and a superstar both multiple times.

Are we talking about the same Shane pinto? He's a 3C who will eventually be a 2C.

That's not the definition I have for either mega star or super star. That would be like a top 10 player in the game or soon to be.

I am aware of score effect, that might have played into the third (typically it's only prominent in the second half of the third) but would not have been the case for the second. Carolina didn't get a couple until the very end of the second.

All I'm saying is people need to accept that their personal eye test is not the be all and end all of eye tests, I had a different impression of the game then you did, based on my eye test, we can't both be right, and yet here we are.

In 32 years of existence the Ottawa senators have had 2 reliable goalies - Lalime and Anderson.

That needs to change. Some teams currently have 2 reliable goalies.

I have a hard time faulting SS when it's clear the best players on the team are the problem. Sanderson clearly isn't what we thought he could be offensively and that's a huge problem. Norris, Giroux, Grieg, Pinto, Brady, Batherson just aren't good enough as a group to lead a team offensively. Stutzle looks like the one member of the "core" that can be a premier player offensively. Ullmark appears to be a big miss, but I still make that bet every day of the week. f***ing sucks.

It's not the coach?
It's not the experienced veterans that we added who are producing next to nothing?

He spent a year evaluating this team. Why didn't he add some real scoring to the roster? Why didn't he trade one of the guys in that group you mentioned?

Let's rewind a bit. Why did he, as POHO, interview no one for the GM position and then appoint himself?

There's lots of fault to assign to him.

Nope don't think it's the coach. He's had them playing well, they just can't finish plays and games when they need to. They've done nothing but learn how to lose from losers in coaching, management and ownership for years. The core of the team locked in to 8x8's by the previous buffoon flat out aren't good enough as a group. Sanderson can't be the offensive driver from the backend. Brady Tkachuk isn't good enough to be the 2nd best forward on a good team. Batherson can't be your 3rd. Giroux looks too washed. Grieg and Pinto have been big disappointments. The core of this team as built by Dorion is clearly flawed and not at the level a core group needs to be. And they have f*** all coming because of him too. Add that to him leaving them asset starved for transactions, and mired in 7 years of misery, it obviously made it hard for SS to do anything if he's having to give a 37 y/o 2x4 to come there.

Who can he trade? Stu and Sandy are the only 2 that appear to be anything special. Chabot, Norris, Giroux you aren't gonna be getting anything back for. Trading Tkachuk last year would have been PR suicide. They were already left thin on the backend so moving Chabot for nothing wasn't gonna help anything. Ullmark turning in to a pumpkin was completely unpredictable and at least had some sense to it unlike the Korpse contract. So basically Batherson & Pinto are the 2 main candidates to move. Now's the time for stuff like that. Maybe Brady too now that the fans would live with it.

I don't expect you to agree with that. Don't care.

Steve Staois has my blessing to trade any player on the team, he just better win the trades

....that's definitely the hardest job in the organization right now. We won't be trading from a position of strength, and we have no cap room to play with. Not to mention losing a first rounder this or next year.

Nac,

what part of the world are you located in. 4:25 am was your post!!!!

Trades will be like for like. The league today is so rich in analytics and advisors, etc. Odds are good you will trade a bad for a bad, or a mid for a mid, or a good for a good (and why trade a good for a good??)

Unless a crazy Mathew Tkachuk/Huberdeau scenario unfolds, no way are you ever winning a trade Ottawa is not Florida. No star is demanding he be traded here.. In fact, it is the exact opposite.

Our bucket of goods, is our bucket.

lol. I'm in the middle of nowhere in Prescott-Russell. A wee bit closer to Montreal than Ottawa. But I work overnights and keep the overnight schedule on my days off.

I really don't expect Staios to outright win any trades, either. He's in a tough spot right now. Losing that first rounder really handcuffs this organization for the next year or two (not to mention keeping interest up until a new arena is built). It's a really sucky situation.
