Well thought we were waiting for a new GM to pick the coach? If staios was just gonna be like “surprise it’s me” then..just fire the coach

The coach they want may not be available until the offseason.

We also don't know if Staios will be GM long term. It wouldn't surprise me if this is a move where down the road when the right guy is available, Staios gives up the GM role.

The timing of the purchase may have made the transition a lot more difficult. Realistically, they should have taken over right at the end of the last regular season but the sale dragged on.

Poulin impresses me as a solid hockey mind with an emphasis on 2 way play. As an analyst he knows what other players are like around the league and can certainly bring constructive advice to the table when it coms time to discuss filling the holes in the Sens structure.
Looks like they want a management team that can work together and Poulin won't be hesitant to add his two cents!

Nothing is more stupid than thinking Andlauer is anything like Melnyk.

All he has done is add since he took over the team for 1 billion in PRE SEASON. He's upgrading absolutely everywhere and spending money everywhere. From hockey ops, to marketing, to in arena staff, to medical staff.

He's hired a bunch of great hockey minds and people with integrity and experience. The melnyk rot in this organization isn't going to go away over night.

It takes time. Straight from someone I know in the organization who is high up. 'The changes have been astronomical' ' the culture is unrecognizable compared to before'.

I didn’t call him stupid. For all I know he is brilliant in many ways. Maybe he has his phd in f***ing neuroscience. I honestly don’t know.

I said idiot until proven otherwise. I’m prepared to be convinced. I love the sens. I hope adding poulin leads to many many many wins and much fewer losses. I don’t know his track record in the league either. Does he have a decorated resume?

I get that he's highly respected and is a good hockey mind. But there was a time when he was trying to crap on Karlsson and his takes were completely out to lunch, I semi-resent him because of how horrible his assessment on Karlsson was at the time. I'm sure this is good for the team though.

As I said in main thread, he seems like an old school anti stats dinosaur. Like claiming the best goalie is whoever has the most wins because that means they know how to win and make the big save when they need to.

Ive always been a fan of Poulin too. Him and Cheryl Pounder explain the game like coaches which i like, but he seems pretty insightful to me. Peak Poulin as a 2nd line C would be a great add for the Sens right now. Hopefully he can impart some of that. I remember Jacques recently bringing up that old story we used to hear a lot more about of StevieY sacrificing offence for Cups. Hopefully Poulin can help with that too.

Its pretty funny how several people here seem to pine for the Melnyk, Dorion, DJ Sens and are so reluctant to accept change offering up emo opinions on the decisions which have had so little time to evaluate.

Sad really.

I mean I have been telling y'all for years that Dorion was terrible without impunity;. We know Melnyk was horrible or have we forgotten; DJ was / is an assistant coach that can be a friend of the players.. he had know idea how to teach the kids 2 way hockey or play without the puck.

I say thank fn God they are all gone one way or another.

I love the coaching change.. because JM and DA can teach these guys lessons they were missing for years. The new Hockey Ops is miles stronger than it has been come on... Not quite what you want; ok; give it a rest ,,, but a huge improvement.

I don't know if it will be much of a hierarchy. I think to get the strength out of the group they would need to work together on changes , additions.
