I love stouts, but don't like most chocolate stouts as many of them have too much chocolate in the taste. The best I've ever had was the New Belgian Salted Chocolate Stout, which was a seasonal beer. Just fantastic as it had a hint of salt, a hint of chocolate but wasn't overly chocolaty.

Never tried the deep river though.

Favorite stout? 1554 isn't a stout is it?

After so many years where the franchise was pretty anonymous, I'm quite happy to have some high profile fans and visibility. Cooper isn't a trained broadcaster, he's basically what happens if you stick any one of us in the booth. That's fun.

First met Roy when he was in law school. Sister was big in Young Dems. Over the years I have attended events, mostly fundraiser, where he has been. When he was the AG we were on the same plane and I got up so he could catch up with my sister. Used to talk UNC sports but the last bunch of years, the Canes.

Last traded some quick convo with him a year or so ago. Same guy today as he was 40 years ago. Really down to earth; no pretenses.

1554 is not a stout. They call it a "black ale". It's fantastic.

I'm not sure I have a "favorite" stout. The only chocolate stout I've really liked is the New Belgian I mentioned. I like founders Breakfast stout, but can only have 1 before I'm too full. Wicked Weed had a good one when I was in Asheville a few years ago. I also liked a coffee stout I had at high wire a while back.
