Its a chocolate stout. Really good if you're into that sort of thing.
I love stouts, but don't like most chocolate stouts as many of them have too much chocolate in the taste. The best I've ever had was the New Belgian Salted Chocolate Stout, which was a seasonal beer. Just fantastic as it had a hint of salt, a hint of chocolate but wasn't overly chocolaty.

Never tried the deep river though.

I think we’ve talked about this. 1554 is a dark lager they make that’s a great beer, a touch of chocolate and coffee that’s much more light than the standard stout. I lived about five minutes away from NB and Odell’s when I was living in Ft Collins. 1554 is one their standards, not a seasonal but it seems that it rarely travels very far. I’d be annoyed if they didn’t carry it at the other brewery.

Young’s Double chocolate is a favorite as well.

Not sure if you saw this in a previous post. I could not find 1554 around here, but walked into a grocery store when I was out of town, 45 min. from the triangle and found it, so I bought all they had. My favorite beer and glad I have access to it, even if it's 40 min. away.
