Watching people play video games is incredibly lame and in no way interesting.

About 97% of the time. You have to have a REALLY good/funny personality to be able to pull it off. A big reason GameGrumps worked is because two people playing a game at the same time creates some random conversations that can be hilarious. Doesn't really work well when it's only one person.

Thought it fit so right

I remember following Egoraptor for years and Jon for a couple or few, I forget when he started. Then that one random day going on youtube and finding that they each upload their intro video to the creation of GG. Been a great ride.

Yogscast are great too since it's multiple people as well. The only person by themselves I really watch and have been forever is Jesse Cox.

They're just nice time killers to watch if I don't feel like playing anything myself at that moment. Something to watch as I get ready to pass out.

AVGN will always be goat, but there is just something so...... chaotic? I am not sure that that is the right word, but along the same lines about JonTron.

Some of the **** he comes up with literally makes me choke

I don't really watch "Let's Play" videos unless I'm doing some research on a game that I'm thinking of buying, but I find Jesse Cox hilarious....especially when he collabs with TotalBiscuit.

I'll watch Twitch for games I'm thinking of buying, I avoid YouTube, unless I'm bored at work, than I'll watch funny/stupid videos of games I play already, Ark for example.

I actually use Twitch for the most part for game research nowadays as well, as well as a few gaming or tech shows. The link to Amazon Prime is nice in avoiding ads without blocking.

I used to browse wildly on YouTube, but now I only really check up on a select few of my favourites.

I think let's plays serve a purpose for casual gamers or people who are just not good enough to beat games, but who want to see the endings//what happens throughout, etc

ie - I have a good friend who loves the Aliens movies, but couldn't finish Isolation cause he thought it was too scary, he couldn't handle parts of it, but watching a let play and removing yourself to viewer instead of player he was able to get through it. Almost kinda like watching a movie I guess.

Jontron's lets plays were never funny.

There's something about jontron that is extremely fraudulent. For a guy who has a gaming channel he doesn't seem like much of a gamer. Maybe that's just me, but I can't put my finger on why I think that.

His channel has gotten worse since he had joined Game Grumps and couldn't work on it enough. And even when he left and said he would work on it more it hasn't been the same content wise. It's his channel but he's gone away from what made him really popular early on and whatever he uploads I check to see if it's a game or another dumb movie thing cause those aren't some of my favorite stuff of his.

He's a gamer, he just doesn't really 'play' them on his channel. Very much a satire channel of gaming and now movies and stuff too it seems.

Dragon Age Inquisition, was one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had in a video game. I am still amazed at the reception it received.

I wanted to see what Surgeon Simulator was so I looked up a gameplay video and it was a Nerd[sup]3[/sup] video. I enjoyed that. I occasionally watch videos of games I'm playing purely to see someone better at it than I am, although on the whole speedrunning is sort of wasted on me. I've been playing Mirror's Edge again, you watch world record videos for that and people are jumping out of the map to reach a checkpoint, quitting then continuing because that's presumably quicker. That sort of stuff, no interest. Similarly, an annoying American voice playing a game badly, no interest in that. If it was someone who writes about games I knew and enjoyed I might be interested. If it's a competitive type thing where I'm watching matches in an FPS or a sports game, maybe. I think the Let's Play part of youtube bypasses me somewhat though.

Different strokes I guess. Watching fighting games can be kind of fun.

I find watching MOBAs as just incomprehensible borefest.

You ever heard of a YouTube guy named "l0rd Vega"? I think he is retired now, but his let's play of Oblivion is what got me hooked on Elder Scrolls. Dude is funny as **** but also very informative.

Professional Dota matches are more fun to watch than the vast majority of traditional sports. I only dabble in the game casually but I love watching even if I sometimes have trouble following what's going on

League is hit and miss, I mostly only watch teams I'm a fan of.

Dota was fun back when it was simply a custom game built into warcraft 3. Dota and Rival nations were the 2 best custom games in War3, Dota eventually becoming so popular more people played it than actual war3. I feel privileged to have been part of clan TDA and the people who made Dota and see its rise so high in popularity.

At the same time, I was bored to death of Dota almost a decade ago and still do not care for the new incarnations. Was an immense timesink back then where you could not even leave to use the bathroom or answer the phone without falling behind. Now that I have kids, playing it seems all but impossible since you need to jump off the PC at the drop of a hat.

Star Wars Battlefront (the new one) is actually a very good game. I hated it at first like many, many others. But now that I'm over the fact that it isn't like the first two I love it. Really feels like Star Wars and the game is just so much fun. They've added a lot of maps and characters since then too.
