I just flipped on NESN and it’s a classic from 2007-8 I think. It’s 7-0 Bruins over Carolina and me and my kid are sitting in the front row (I’m assuming TJ didn’t show up 😂) she is 12 or 13 and wearing her Krejci Providence jersey - you and Wendy are shown after the game as players go down runway (they kept showing Chara so he must have stood out)

The Bruins guys looked so young - no Marchand and didn’t see Bergeron but Thomas was in net, Seids, Boychuk, Stuart and Kampfer on defense/ Marc Savard was centering Horton / and Krejci was centering Seguin and Lucic. Wheeler, Ryder and Campbell were also playing

I’m assuming it was 13 or 14 years ago.

I can’t decide if it seems like yesterday or 100 years ago but it sure was special time in my life
I guess I have known you for a few years!

Watching the Bs over the years has been mostly fun!

What makes it worse is that that scoring chance was set up by an absolutely beautiful pass by Seguin. If he just shoots it in the net, Seguin's a hero who helped win us a big game in the finals, and regardless of the outcome of the other 6 games we probably don't have as much impetus to trade him.

Seguin also set up the empty net that Chris Kelly blew in game 4. Theoretically we could've swept them if they just converted when he gave them opportunities (caveat: butterfly effect). But the narrative they used was that he couldn't give us half of Kane.

Early 2010-11 is the only time Stuart/Wheeler and Horton/Campbell could've been in the lineup together
That was the season we won the cup and started in Prague!

Prague was fun! ...Right @DKH?

Chara hat Trick

Bergeron scored

I remember being at his hat trick

So Wheeler & Stuart soon traded

I didn’t want to go but my wife bailed and I ended up going- the girls were supposed to go I never took the time but work was like - yeh you gotta go

It was so incredible they didn’t even need to play the games - it was the Cherry on the top

I don’t like to drink before noon even in college or a resort - but I drank beer every day for breakfast it was so clean and pure like nothing I ever had. I like beer but in Prague it was delicious

Touring those castles with you guys was amazing - like a fairy tale

My only complaint was the gelato servings you get on street were the portions for a mouse

Prediction: montgomery won’t have near the impact people are saying he will and the bruins will kind of just look like the same team that they’ve been trotting out for the past few years

Positive: Marc McLaughlin establishes himself in the bottom 6 and tallies a sneaky 9-10 goals. Kid's got something about him and I really hope he can turn that something into consistent performance at this level.

Negative: One of Marchand or Krejci is no longer the player they once were and struggles to have a big impact. This is one of my main fears for the season and I think the odds on it are better than we would like.

Ah so you noticed McLaughlin too! Definitely something about him!

Yeah just seems to have a lot of composure for a young undrafted player. In his brief stint last season he looked like he belonged and was capable at both ends. His college stats aren't that impressive, even though there are clear signs of improvement year-on-year and Covid disruptions have a lot to answer for, but sometimes guys only really flourish in the big league. We'll see - always a long shot for players in his situation and he ultimately may not have the talent to make it stick, but I think he's got a decent chance.

A slow start out of the gate dooms Boston’s playoff hopes.

By the time reinforcements arrive back from the injured list, the hole proves insurmountable.

There is chatter of moving Bergeron to a contender at the deadline, but he ultimately stays put.

The regular season finale is his send off as we enter the next chapter in franchise history.

I think these might not qualify exactly as unexpected…sadly more likely than not:cool:

Unexpected positives: Jake Debrusk keeps pace with Pasta as top goal scorer on the team. Gryz looks great upon his return to the lineup, turns into excellent PP quarterback.

Unexpected negatives: McAvoy shaky upon return to lineup, never gets it going this season: Hampus plays 25-30 minutes per game all season.

Hall/Krejci/Pasta struggle as the defacto go-to line
Bruins waive/lose a younger player to keep Foligno on the roster, other player outscores Foligno on his new team
Bruins trade Pastrnak for a deal that makes the Thornton and Seguin trades look good
Bruins miss the playoffs and Vegas wins the cup.

Geez. That’s one shitty season.

If Kaspars Daugavins, his family, or his friends are reading this thread: I stand by all of it.

I was at Chara's hat trick too. Place went wild. Absolute blast.

Lysell makes a huge impression in training camp. They start out:

Hall - DK46 - Pasta
Debrusk - Bergy - Lysell
Zacha - Coyle - Smith
Frederic - Beecher - Wagner

When Marchand comes back theres more questions about Debrusk and if he should be moved or not.

This is at least what I would like to see.

Zboril - Mcavoy
Lindholm - Carlo
Forbort - Clifton

Wow that would be huge. Make or break year for Zboril. We've seen glimpses that give cause for optimism, and he's been unlucky with injury, but now is the time to prove whether he's really got it or not. Top pair is a huge stretch, which of course is the point of this thread, but even if he can play an important part in steering our D through being shorthanded early on and ultimately wind up next to Carlo that would be a big win for the Bs. To me he's the 'X factor' player in terms of whether or not we have a really solid, all-round defense this season (once fully healthy) without the need to shop around for other talent. If he does step up as hoped it also allows Sweeney to offload one of Reilly or Gryz before the deadline to free up some much-needed cash.

I think the playoffs will be out of reach. With two top players and a puck moving defenseman gone for an extended period I believe they will fall too far behind in the strandings.

In addition, I am not convinced that Ullmark or Swayman will be able to handle the huge workload that they will have to try and get through during these times.

Bergeron and Krecji are not really spring chickens and the workload may just be too much. They are going to be expected to do a lot.

I hope for the best but we also have to be realistic.
