I thought Wall really showed something. Should be the starter in HFD, but there's Kinkaid and Huska too. But I think they need to really develop Wall. He was great in college and had a bad first year in HFD. If he's back on track that could be very good for the club.

Blais is going to be a fan favorite he’s got skill and jam he’ll be very popular

Gauthier man just if he doesn’t produce he doesn’t defend well enough to stay in the lineup.

Been sayin it since he got here, he needs to create a niche for himself in the bottom six or he isnt making the team. He isnt offensive enough for top 9, isnt reliable enough for bottom 3.

Laffy got sealed off pretty good by one of the best forward lines in the league. Not worried.

KK did the exact opposite.
Super not worried.

Strome scored a goal so it's silly to gripe, but he was MIA after that.
No bueno.

Like Blais' game. Reaves should be very a good 4th liner for us. I thought Barron and Cuylle played pretty well and Wall had a very good period and half.
Kakko was solid, Laf was mostly invisible; he has flashes, but really hasn't looked like the player everyone was talking about after we drafted him at #1

I agree on Laf. I feel like he just needs to play far more aggressive. Get those feet moving a lot more. He's got decent size and strength. He needs to show opposing teams that he's willing to dump and go get it. Until then, they're not going to give him room in the middle of the ice. We need to see more gogogo from him. and less hesitation and playing angles.

he had a similar regression before a monster finish to his college career too. He looked great tonight. Huska is going to be the odd man out but really Georgiev should be on a tight leash this year. There are other options

Happy to have Barron and Cuylle waiting for their chance. No reason in a year or two they can't make the jump for bottom 6 work to replace guys like Reaves and Blais while making peanuts.

stars: gauthier, reaves and lundkvist.

honorable: kakko, schneider, hajek. Yes, Hajek settled down after a bad d-zone read on the one of early goals. After that he was really quite good.

I voted for

3. Kakko for actually standing out positively in a game where they collectively got shelled.
2. Nils. This was a tough matchup for him and he still pulled some straight up wizardry in the OZ. He made 3 plays that were better than the ones he got points on. The apprehension is gone and he still scares the shit out of me defensively but this was against a full NHL roster who played one of the league's best lines.
1. The Hands. No explanation needed.

Gauthier is Schroedinger's Cat right now or Gallant's Goat. He's driving the net, putting pucks on net, skating with purpose but simultaneously having no impact on the score sheet on both ends of the ice. He'll continue to get chances and ice time and looks but eventually he'll have to add some playmaking or finish on his chances to stay relevant with so many kids and vets pushing.

Thought Schneider was really good too. I missed most of the first half but in the second half of the match he was consequential all over the place.
