Lundkvist being PP2 and getting 14-15 minutes a night to get comfortable in the NHL isn't a bad thing. SHL is the 3rd best league in the world. He's going to be more than fine after adjusting to the NHL pace.

Let Schneider and Jones get huge AHL minutes. If Jones makes a mockery of the AHL, he'll force their hands to call him up.

Also, Robertson is on his 1st game. Marchand is all world. I'm not concerned he had that mistake, but Marchand also knocked that puck down and I'm sure Robertson has never seen a player do that in that circumstance. It was an elite play from and elite player.

Nils purposely shooting wide in 2 preseason games has created more than Staal doing it for 10 years.

Over Quinn's tenure, we lapped the field in taking penalties. So we did plenty of the dumb shit. That's why I always agued that they need to reconceptualize what they think toughness is.

I agree with @mike14 that it was nice to hear Gallant talk about speed. You have to skate to hit.

Ten fold.

Speed is what forces the other team to make the dumb penalties. That’s where the typical interference and holding penalties come into play that we are so accustomed to.

Interesting to hear Gallant talk about wanting to be a fast team. Not a word I'd use to describe us during the pre-season, and it doesn't really look like we are trying to play that way
I think I said last season that we got in trouble because we weren't fast or heavy, but we were closer to becoming a heavy team than becoming a fast team. Then we made all the "heavy" offseason acquisitions - still don't see the speed, but who knows.

I don't think they aren't trying, but their D aren't collectively good enough at making those short passes to push play up ice, so they look pretty disjointed and sputtery.

Fox is God here, Jones is very good. Everyone else is adequate to bad at it.

Yes, look at all those goals he has been on the ice against. I rather have the defenseman that makes sure the puck is in the offensive zone than having to defend in their own.

Half his points are on the power play. He’s taken penalties in the defensive zone because he’s out of position or being outmuscled. I don’t want a PP specialist I want him to be well-rounded, which I know he can eventually be.

Lefresgue and Kakko clearly looks like they're ready to kill it this year.
