An overlooked part of the whole "toughness" thing is putting your opponent in the box, whether it's moving your feet or being annoying.

Interesting to hear Gallant talk about wanting to be a fast team. Not a word I'd use to describe us during the pre-season, and it doesn't really look like we are trying to play that way

I'm just wishing they'd blow up their line ideas and put Laf and Kakko with Zib, and if Kreider wants rw he can play with either Strome or Chytil on 2 or 3.
I've been saying all summer to put strome w ck and elevate the kids if you're actually commiting to them taking the reigns

I don't disagree that he's getting the spot, been saying since before rookie camp that they have him penciled in there like they promised it to him but Schneider is the more ready dman out of all of them. I havent seen a bad play out of him since he got here.

Ya, Schneider's been good but we've rushed too many prospects in this rebuild already. It'll be good for him and Robertson to tear it up in the A for a while.

You aren’t winning in this league with a goalie that can’t make high danger saves. Georgiev can’t and let’s up bad ones too. I’ve never seen him stop a breakaway I mean never. Soon as Marchand cut around Robertson I said goal

He looks like Darren Pang in net the way he gives up the high corners.

I watched the Danbury Trashers documentary last night. It is absolutely about running the other team out of the building.

It only works if we don’t take more PIMs than drawn because of our ‘toughness’.

It’s actually sad that everyone is hopping on the Lundkvist train, dude has loads of talent but has been absolutely worked over on the defensive end this pre-season….Jones and even Schneider have been better as defensemen, and would be much more beneficial grand scheme.

Nils will end up being an absolute dog, but he needs more seasoning on the defensive end, which has been glaringly obvious this pre-season.
Yes, look at all those goals he has been on the ice against. I rather have the defenseman that makes sure the puck is in the offensive zone than having to defend in their own.

Not just toughness though we needed some adults in the room. Some daddies yes. Reaves Blais Goodrow Nemeth guys that have been in the league have played in big games have closed out big games.

So while they add “grit” yes they add experience which we sorely lacked

Over Quinn's tenure, we lapped the field in taking penalties. So we did plenty of the dumb shit. That's why I always agued that they need to reconceptualize what they think toughness is.

I agree with @mike14 that it was nice to hear Gallant talk about speed. You have to skate to hit.
