Dec. 4—ST. CLOUD, Minn. — UND gave up a goal on the first shift of the game.
Less than five minutes later, it gave up another on a two-on-zero situation. Then, it handed the nation's best power play an opportunity. St. Cloud State cashed that in for a goal, too.

Jan. 27—GRAND FORKS — The last time they were on Ralph Engelstad Arena's ice together, they posed for a picture to commemorate the moment.

All three progressed through prep and junior hockey, landed Division-I college commitments and will be back together on that same ice sheet this weekend as UND hosts St. Cloud State in a matchup of two nationally ranked teams.
Salquist is a freshman for the Huskies. Montgomery and Kunz are rookies at UND.
"You never really think you're going to grow up and play against each other in juniors or in college," Montgomery said. "It's pretty awesome we get to do that."

GRAND FORKS — On the first shift of the game, Riese Gaber blocked a shot in the defensive zone.
Then, Gaber picked up the puck along the right-side boards, skated it through the neutral zone, cut all the way across to the left-wing side, beat defenseman Jason Smallidge wide and centered a pass to Connor Ford.
The pass might have been a little bit out of Ford's reach, but UND coach Brad Berry knew right then it might be a big night for Gaber.
"When Gabes gets out of the chute and has a couple of shifts, you know he's going to have a really good game all night," Berry said.
That was the case Friday. ...

GRAND FORKS — UND coach Brad Berry put together a shutdown line in the first half of the season.
Its purpose was to match against opponents' top lines and help grind out victories in close games.
Gavin Hain, Mark Senden and Louis Jamernik did just that over and over again for the Fighting Hawks.
But by the end of the second period Saturday night, Berry was without all three of them. Hain was injured in January and is out longterm. His two linemates, Senden and Jamernik, sustained injuries in the second period and didn't return.
Nobody filled their role and a three-line UND let a 2-0 third-period lead slip away. The Fighting Hawks eventually lost to Omaha 3-2 in overtime in front of 11,632 fans in Ralph Engelstad Arena. ...

Sure, beat up on the team with just 4 conference wins. You should've asked the Tigers to switch opponents with your team next weekend, so y'all could steamroll 3-14-1 Miami-OH rather than face the Bulldogs.Just what the doctor ordered. A sweep over Colorado College
