What's your excuse?
Back from the game a pretty buzzed so here's my take of the game.

Refs - I usually don't get on the but man... The net was off for literally 30 seconds at least. I told everyone around me it wouldn't count but they need to them the clock back or something. High stick on Kane was garbage. Tripping on Truoba probably shouldn't been called but whatever...

Pavs was definitely a star but I probably would have given him #2

Troubas hit on Brown was awesome. He played well over all. Yes he had a few mistakes but this is one of the premiere teams in the league. I'll take it.

Buff continues to play more physical. Me likey.

Slater is money. This guy should be our 4th line center for many years.

Scieflie was good. That line again was awesome. Drew a few penalties and went to the hard areas and drew defenders giving Kane and Seto more room.

MTS was loud after that 4th goal!

Postma still needs a lot of work in our own end.

Some other stuff butnfeel s great to finally win pur home opener.

Little jersey was a hit. Was asked to take pictures with a few others with a little jersey on. They barely came up to my shoulders lol

Beautiful

Curious to what Seto and Trouba thought about playing their first game at MTS Centre, get anything on that?

So quick knocks the net off, 4 useless officials can't see this until after we score. WTH?

I know it's not a goal, but man, blow it dead before we actually go all the way down the ice and score.

If we had lost this game because of that, those officials would have needed security to get out of town.

I can't believe there is no Sports Centre or Sportsnet Connected or any sports highlight shows on right now.

I like to watch the highlights after watching the Jets game to relive the glory :(.

I usually hit the TSN.ca video highlights after a game, and catch up with the rest of the league.

Quick obviously left it on purpose, so if something does happen, he can do exactly what he did.

Quick thoughts....

A really strong game by the Jets. Their speed and physical play took over from the 2nd period on. A couple of late PP goals by LA flattered them in the end.

Kane was the best player by far. A dominant performance.

Seto and Scheif are really good with Kane. Scheif's game has been underrated by some - like Ulf Nilsson. He's so often in the right place and makes smart plays with the puck. Always creates good spacing for linemates. He is going to get a lot of points playing with that line.

Little was strong again - Ladd and especially Wheeler look really rusty. That line is way behind their performance from last year. Unquestionably the third best line on the Jets so far. Good thing the Jets have more scoring and skill depth this year.

Jokinen was very strong again. I really appreciate the way he's been playing - strong. He and Frolik form a great third line. I really liked Tangradi there. I disagree with those ragging on him. He was dangerous and effective in various facets. I expect him to stay on that line for some time.

The Jets need a lot of work on the face-off. Really weak.

Postma and Stuart were a horror show in the first period, but were a bit stronger as the game went on.

Trouba was a bit less mistake-free, but that is a hard team to play as a rookie. He continues to show some fantastic skill and potential. He's the real deal. Bogosian got stronger after the first period, but still looks unsettled on the left side.

Buff made a couple of bonehead plays, but played a very physical game and was generally a strong asset with Enstrom.

Pavs was fine, but his rebound control was a bit shaky. Couldn't really see how he was the 1st star (Kane was the obvious choice).

The play should have been blown dead as soon as the Jets got possession of the puck.

Otherwise, time should have been put back on the clock.

They have just invented a new tactic. Goalie "accidentally" dislodges the goal and then doesn't have to worry about any goals against.

The refs were generally weak... missed call on the trip against Trouba, stupid call against Kane, and weak call against Trouba (especially considering the missed call in the first). But if the Jets can't win a face-off, they are going to have a poor performance on the PK again.

This.

It was a total ***** move by Quick, he didn't even attempt to signal the refs.

Hate to say it but the right call was made, if the net was on properly the puck would have likely missed.

Very glad we held them off, but we need to learn to put teams away not let them battle back, this game should have ended 4-2 or 4-1. But 5-3 is still impressive against a top team.

No kidding, Quick could have gone to his bench for a snack and anything that went into the net wouldn't have counted, obviously the reff's screwed up/ time should have gone back on the clock after the review.

The only other solution would have been a delay of game call to the Kings?

Would like to see Halischuk in for Tangradi or Wright.

I don't understand why they didn't put more time on the clock after they realized it was a no goal. If the referees are taking the goal away because of the review, they should turn back the clock including time remaining on the pp to exactly when a Jet player touchs the puck after the net comes off.

... oh, and Blake Wheeler had 0 shots on goal, despite having two clear breaks on the front of the net. I wonder when that backhand pass from the slot to the side boards is going to finally work for him. It sure looked bad.

Tangradi has to stay in the line-up, especially against big teams. I thought he was strong, made smart plays with the puck, and contributed to a very strong performance by that line.

It's either a goal or a penalty on Quick.

I was telling the guy I was sitting with... if there are no consequences to knocking your net off, if I was Pavs, I would knock my net off every time there is a faceoff in the far end. According to these officials, it's obviously not a penalty....

Same Wheeler we have seen here for the past two seasons, super slow start, it's almost like he is out of shape or something. Little really is carrying that second line.:sarcasm:

Another thing I forgot to mention... Wheeler - Shoot the puck. Who does a drop pass on a partial breakaway. Once our line one gets going <insert giggling here>.

I should also mention that I am thrilled with Tangradi's play. I can foresee that being a robbery of a trade. Didn't know much about Seto before but man does he fit the hold. Good work Chevy and TNSE.
