Lol, I was completely by myself in Kings colors in that section . 2 years ago there was 8-12 LA fans in 304, but this year (season opener so I figured way less LA fans would be present) I was alone. It sounded to me that 305-307 sections were really starting the LA Queens chant, but the guys right above me are great and love to give me a hard time so I am sure they were 100% into the chant lol.

Also, don't know if you or RonJon are ST holders but if you are and want to come say high/get a beer sometime let me know! I'm always down, and will always be wearing my Ladd jersey if not playing Kings :D Hank was able to overcome his Kings phobia to meet me for a beer :biglaugh:

Was great meeeting Allan too, and yes Holden we are both STH's he's row 12 (jealous) and I'm 11. I meant to come say hi and introduce myself but you being on the isle were long gone before I could scoot from the middle row . When I said you were behaved it was in a good way, you stood and cheered when LA scored and I saw the friendly ribbing of jet faithful but you could tell you were enjoying it. Your right about the Queens chant coming from a section or 2 to our left. I'll keep an eye out for you and come say hi the next game we are both at. Gave Ducks to my daughter for her birthday...seemed like the right thing to do since she named her dog Teemu

Watching that wraparound goal, where basically all Kane and Seto do is shove their way to the net as hard as they can, get up, and do it again, made me think that that line is going to be a blitz all year. Awesome.

Also, thank god I took Kane in my office pool.

Watched most of last night's game. All I can say is you guys have a fantastic blue line, and as long as they and your goaltender can keep pucks out of your own net effectively, you guys are going to be an absolute mother****** to play all season. I think the Jets make the playoffs this year and make some noise when they do. Good luck moving forward.

Oh yeah... Trouba? I'm beyond envious.
Thanks for the kind words.

We look forward to eventually meeting the Blackhawks in the playoffs :)

What a fun night! That was top three for me of games I attended. The only thing I didn't like was Noel putting on the fourth line after every goal we scored. I know LA had their fourth line out and he was matching lines but he also had them paired with Stu Postma. They were all over us a few times. One time it was near the end of the period, why not throw out the top line against them to see if you can take advantage. Other than that, it was a great game.

oh god...
is...is it too early to wonder...if we actually have a team that national pundits have underranked?

do we have 3 lines?
do we have semi-solid D that will only improve with time?
is Pavs an above average goalie?

and may we honestly be toying with finishing 4-6 in the West, versus 7-12?

While other teams have struggles to keep the same team or even got worse thanks to the falling cap to boot. It's early and there's lots of "work to be done" and such but I'm thinking the same thing.

They finally look like a team with players whose strengths and weaknesses mesh well together. There's still work to be done on the culture of the club but it looks noticeably improved from last year.

I have nothing but good things to say about Kane. This is the year he becomes a superstar. His compete level is through the roof.

Yes. All the indications are there. He has the power to drive the net, the speed to beat slower dmen wide, and the shot to rip if they back off. He's unquestionably the team's hardest worker through 2 games.

Fancy Stats for the game here.

Sneak Peak:

For 5v5 while the game was within 2 or less points while Kane on ice:
13 shot attempts for Jets
1 shot attempt for Kings

Keep in mind that Kings are a top 3 Close Game 5v5 team in the league...
WOW.

Do you have information about which forward line was matched against the Justin Williams line the most?

Now I've only watched the condensed game from tonight, but these numbers seem like the most misleading stat on the season so far. I can't be the only one who thinks this??
Not sure what is misleading about it. The Jets have allowed 7 goals against. That is where the GAA comes from.

The save percentages paint a pretty clear picture too. Pav has .941 at evens and a .810 shorthanded.

PK issues have led to many (4) of the goals against.

Can't get over how much Stuart has regressed in the last year and a bit... Him and Postma are a train wreck when on the ice. I really hope Noël replaces them with Clitsome and Redmond

Aye. 60% PK will not work this season. Need to be at 87% or higher. Still really early in the season, so it will balance itself out.

Yep, Kane is on a mission. I think his intention is to get the team into the play-offs all by himself if necessary.

...however, I would prefer NOT to see him engaging in fisticuffs again. We have people who's job it is to take care of that business. Note to Noel - put Peluso in the game!

A few random thoughts.

REALLY enjoyed the night but might have been over served.

bout those Black Cowboy hats

can't believe how much LA bent Columbus over on the Carter for JJ trade he was the most dangerous King. Slava Voynov looked really good. they really miss Rob Scuderi. Doughty is a treat to watch live. Weird to see Quick struggle.

Now about the White Cowboy hats

so far the guy I have been most impressed with since about last May is Chevy. The haters bandwagon is going to get a bit lighter soon. overall we are a bigger, faster, deeper team and our prospect pool is vastly improved. I know its really early and we will have our ups and downs but this is a much better roster than we have had in the past.

This is a year we will see how good a coach Claude is.....he has the pieces now to compete.

with KSS I think there is nobody that would love Mark's game more than Coach. mark is doing all the things that allow a coach to trust a rookie. sometimes you can define a great linemate or "chemistry" by what a player does and Mark fits well with Kane and Seto....other times and this is Key "it's about what you DON'T do". Mark rarely gets in the way and kills a play....he knows when to lead and when to lay back. he knows how to support Kane and Seto when they are attacking the net. This is a learning experience for our board. some posters were saying why send Mark back to dominate kids "what's he going to learn". well I think they did an outstanding job of developing him.

I think its awsome That our first line has struggled and we are 2-0!!

we matched the speed of the Oilers we have matched the physicality of the kings.

I know TNSE said they want to play an uptempo pressure game and I think we finally have the team to do that....it doesn't look like we are going to be fun to play against when we are on our game.

We still have our challenges and I don't want to get ahead of myself too much because who knows where this season will go but we look better.

I do agree with a few Posters.....Trouba is going to be our #1 D man its just a matter of when not if.

We are beating this to death but The Frolik trade was a game changer

I might have made an ass out of myself but I blew a gasket with that late penalty call against us that led to a goal against. Not many guys in P1 standing up with me giving the double finger to the refs after the goal :help::facepalm::baghead::booboo:

Well, as the 3-1 was given to Setoguchi after all (NHL.com and other sites) ... I absolutely have got to do this:

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showpost.php?p=72024007&postcount=583

The only one who saw it :D

I called Kanes goal and Wheelers that was disallowed, my 4-3 score prediction was skewed by the empty netter.;)

Chevy starting to make some of us doubters look silly, once the bad Thrahers draft picks are waived and let go and more of his crop of draft picks emerge look out!

My thoughts

LLW. Again a weak game offensively. Wheeler is still struggling out there. A couple of clear chances to shoot and passes it off. I think Ladd and Little were ok for the most part playing hard defensively. They earned that empty netter with some hard work. Need to get better because at some point the other 2 lines have to cool down don't they?

KSS. Just a great game from all of them. Kane was flying! Hit everything and really made the defense of LA RESPECT him. They had no answer and the only thing they could do was to get a bum like Fraser to attack him. He is lucky he had that seatbelt tight or Kane would have destroyed him. Seto's best game so. Really starting to understand what he needs to do and where he needs to be. I like Sheif's game. Strong defensively, his stick position is magnificent and his passing is sublime. The ice opens up for those around him and Kane/Seto are benefiting from that.

Fro/Joker/Tang. I thought they were the best line last night. They set the tone early with a hard physical shift and continued that all night. Really they could have 5 goals last night but they had to settle for a very deserving Joker goal. I think Tang fits on that line. His scoring chances show it. What can you say about Fro looking like a steal of a pick up.

Thor/Slats/Wright. I think Slats had a whale of game last night. Perfect 4th line center night. Wright is were he belongs plugging away on the 4th line. Thor I thought while ok defensively was weak physically. I would love to see Peluso in for in instead. They didn't get scored on which is a bonus.

Buff/Enstom. I was worried about Enstrom this game because of how physical LA can be but he held up well and I thought had a really understated game tonight. Buff was physical again and very restrained which makes a much better player. It is hard to argue with their numbers.

Bogo/Trouba. I thought they had another great game together. Trouba doesn't lok out of place on the ice and he really held it together for the most part. So much poise from him and rarely a bad play. What I like about him is his IQ. He thinks the game so fast and he has the physical tools to back it up. He is going to be amazing for years to come. Bogo is looking impressive as well. He doesn't have the same IQ as Trouba but he does possess the physical attributes. When he simplifies he is so effective. One thing I like so far out of him this year is how he backs up his teammates during scrums. He is a big bear of a man and you can see other players fear him.

Stuart/Postma. They played ok which is much better then the first game. Postma was better moving the puck but he didn't see a lick of PP time which means he isn't in the long term thought of Noel. Stuart still seems slower then ever and I wonder if he comes out of the line up when Clitsome is ready.

Pavelec. Was the best player on the ice the 1st period. He kept us in it when LA spent all their gas. Other then that ridiculous Greene goal he was fantastic and I thought a well deserved first star.

I completely agree with the post goal line analysis.....not sure, what the strategy was. I keep seeing Stuart and Postma after every Jets goal. Response after a goal by either team is crucial to the final outcome. With our weakest defensive pair on the ice, I cringe. A quick goal by the opposition negates our goal and swings momentum. If a 4th line is the call, post goal, then I think we need a strong defensive pairing as backup. It kept seeming like we were challenging the opposition to score by putting our 5 weakest players on the ice. Just don't like that strategy, at all.

Assuming Clitsome is back in the next game or 2, he will (or should, based on the play of others) assume the #5 spot. Is Stuart the number 6? I just don't see it, as the speed of the team has evolved in the last 2 years, he has stayed the same. I am not sure Postma is 6, nor Pardy. I think Redmond has shown a more balanced defense first game and would seem to fit with Clitsome as number 6, over the other 2. To do that we would have to move a roster spot. Pardy has cleared so when Clitsome is back he's gone to the ice caps. To bring up Redmond we have to waive or trade a guy......I think it is more likely that we suffer with Stuart, or could Postma be better than I have seen or believe, if paired with Clitsome. Thoughts?

It's interesting because Marcel Comeau was carried over by the staff and he was the same guy who carried out the Thrasher's drafts. It just really goes to show how much management direction can really influence a scouting staff.

Also is it just me or does our scouting staff look massive now: http://jets.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=69834

Carter Sears, Anders Gozzi, and Barrett Leganchuk are all names that jump out at me as being possibly new additions this year.

For 5v5 while the game was within 2 or less points while Kane on ice:
13 shot attempts for Jets
1 shot attempt for Kings

When Kane was serving his major penalty his linemates had major regression in this area with Wright promoted to the 2nd line.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they want to be league leaders in terms of the amount of resources they pour into scouting.

Wright wasn't as bad as the first game, but he did stupidly ice the puck when no one was around him and he could have skated a few strides forward and dumped it in, makes you wonder how well he understands the game.
