UNB Reds Thread (Part5)

You are 100% correct . I read that wrong!

Regardless the point stands about the fanbase.
100%. They don't know the game, they don't know the league, they don't understand development. They only know wins and losses.

As I've said many times, UNB fans are spoiled. I doubt that it will happen, but if UNB "falters" and drops down with the rest of the pack, a lot of these fans will leave.

While I don’t disagree, I’ve also heard comments from people over the years that were along the lines of “why bother going when you know UNB is going to win in a blowout?”

I feel like people outside Fredericton don’t get how common this way of thinking is within the city…

I think of the guys I play pickup with, that is a decent sized sample group that you would anticipate would have the most hockey fans … As many if not more of them were going to watch senior hockey in the junction… I constantly here the “UNB always wins, why bother” and I completely get why they feel this way, id probably feel the same if I didn’t grow up a UNB fan but that is the thought process of the vast majority of hockey fans I talk with who aren’t regulars at the AUC.

Well that will be coming to an end next season for sure. It will be interesting to see how much it impacts attendance.
I’d referenced on another thread watching STU games at Grant Harvey towards the end with an entire section to myself lol. Do I think it gets that bad ? No, but as the STU team declined so did the attendance. I imagine it will be gradual but if they are a sub .500 team I could see it falling off pretty hard .
