UNB Reds Thread (Part5)

First time all season they have given up 3 straight goals?

I think every goal Moncton scored came directly following UNB almost scoring at the other end.
Over the past three (3) season; 24-25, 23-24 & 22-23 for 125 games (EX,RS,PO), UNB has only given up 3 or more goals 28 times (about 20% of their game) which means 80% of the time it's 0, 1 or 2 goals (which is crazy).
3 goal GA games = 16 (15-1 record)
4 goal GA games = 10 (5-5 record)
5 goal GA games = 1 (4-5 loss to UPEI the weekend before FISU)
6 goal GA games = 1 (5-6 OT loss to SMU on the road in the playoffs)

The last time they gave up 3 goals in a row (over the past three seasons)
- Dec 1st, 2023 (23/24, last season) Game 18. UNB won 5-3 after being up 4-0. Let SFX back into the game with 3 straight then scored an empty net (a lot like yesterday's UdeM game).
- Jan. 14th, 2023 (22/23) Game 22. UNB led 2-0, SFX scores 3 to take the lead. UNB forces OT with a 6-on-5 goal late then loses in OT. Final Score 4-3 SFX.
- Oct. 15th, 2022 (22/23) Game 3. UNB loses at home 3-0 shutout to SMU.

Good job with the research. During the third period I was trying to think about the biggest lead they had ever coughed up. If Moncton actually pulled off the comeback it would have made history.

To be 100% honest, at 4-3 I was starting to have flashbacks to my 12 year old self at the Aitken Centre in 1999 in first round of playoffs. We came back from 4-1 with 12 seconds left in the 2nd period to win in double overtime.

Went to women’s game tonight , first one I’ve made it to this year .
Entertaining game, all 5’1 of Marisa Valla is fun to watch!

Same a handful of guys I’ve played hockey with at the game with their daughters which was nice to see .

Valla is one of my favourite players to watch - all energy, all the time. Unfortunately she took that penalty against a much bigger X-Women that lead to X's first goal. And on that rush, if the X defender hadn't gone down and desperately swept away the puck she would have had a great scoring chance.

Richard with his best game of the year. He’s going to be a tough guy to replace
He bailed them out multiple times. Way too many odd man rushes and defensive zone giveaways. They really need to tighten that up next week....hopefully play their usual stifling D we have seen so often at Nationals.

Clearly just picking nits here, but does anyone else notice the UNB Twitter always seems to go MIA at the end of games? They seem to just stop posting in the final minutes of a game lol

Concerts conflicting with third round at Avenir Centre if Wildcats get that far according to Jamie Tozer… Could we get GMac behind the bench one last time at the AUC?

They better get that far.

Likely go to Saint John before Freddy, but that would be awesome.
Wherever they go it will be more fun than the Avenir Centre … I’ve seen my share of rinks from just about every level you could imagine and it’s the worst in person experience I’ve ever had . Beautiful facility but holy shit it has no soul , silent crowd , boards and glass make no sound, etc….it’s bad to the point I genuinely do not like going ….

I can’t remember what year it was (Ehlers was in Halifax) the Mooseheads were forced out of the Metro Centre during the playoffs and the Forum was packed ,one of the most fun games I’ve ever attended , I’d take that every day over Moncton…..

How’s everyone feeling about the quarter-final match-up with Ottawa? Quite often UNB’s first game at Nationals has been their toughest…add in facing the host team in front of what will probably be the biggest crowd of the tournament, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a 1-2 goal game.
