I know he's public enemy number 1, but Dvorak had a solid game. Much better intensity in general from the team. Defense and goalie played pretty solid. Dach still isn't up to speed but he's a battler.

Slaf doesn't look all that good. Hopefully he is just a slow starter.

I don’t understand how TVA sports are trying to convince us that the Habs played a good game and we’re the “aggressors”. And the worst part, is that MSL kinda echoed that message too.

Did I watched the same game or am I going crazy? We were just as awful defensively, and if the pens (who imo didn’t play a particularly good game) were better, the final score woulda had a much bigger gap.
And let’s talk about the offence… other than the Dvorak opportunity, I can’t even count 5 legitimate scoring chances for us this game.
Just a bad game all around… but I guess we didn’t allow 5+ goals if this is the sad standard we set ourselves now.

It doesn’t look like a team at all they don’t stick up for each other like other clubs do. Dirty hits go unchecked and it’s not a good look at all

i said that mostly because the other guy said that him being in the lineup didn't prevent a cheap shot

the at least part is because nobody else on the team would have.
The other guy totally missed the point for sure. X's presence isn’t about stopping cheap shots against our guys; it’s about making sure that when those dirty hits do happen, there’s hell to pay. He’s the reminder that those moves come with consequences and if that means cracking a few skulls here and there to make it clear, oh well.

Well when X does it (although he still needs to perfect the when and how to react), he gets punished by MSL.
Other guys see that and are probably holding their sticks tighter in those situations.
Just a theory…

Typical montreal and i hope current management will ignore this BS. As usual in Montreal it's not about skills. Half the fan base and the entire media would prefer a team of 4thy line grinder than a team with actual skills. it's a young team what we see is common you'll see this with all young team.

Being a young team does not justify the complete no show we witness in the first 2 period......more so following a bag skate pratice, this team as quit on the coach that's obvious

I hate to say this but as of now, Xhekaj would end up fighting every SINGLE game. He'll never develop as a D because he'll spend most of the time in the penalty box or getting kicked out.
So the question is which is more important?
Xhekaj develop into a better D or give up on that and just be a goon.
So if you want him to develop it's either,
1) the other players learn to care and stick up for each other or
2) Get a guy who can be the daily police
Ideally both 1 & 2.

Every rebuild team looks like that. It's almost like some people are living under a rock.

2005-2006 Pens finished the season with 58 points allowing 316 goals. Outside of Orpik and Malone it was a pretty soft team full of over the hill vets who did not bother and kids not experienced enough. It was Palfy last season in NA despite finishing the season with 42 points in 42 games.

2006-2007 pens finished the season with 105 points allowing 246 goals. The only two notable addition were Malkin and Staal and some vets were gone. That's about it. Pretty much the same def. Same goalie. Same winger. But Crosby was a year older than in 2005-2006 where he was a rookie.

People are expecting too much from such a young team. The expectation are ridiculously unrealistic and quite frankly stupid. Almost like some fans are not really following pro sports. Demidov will be added next season. Slaf will be 21. Guhle will be 23. Hutson wont be a rookie. Will likely add another top pick. Couple of other guys will join the team gradually. Once the team will start winning the guy will gain confidence and after that softness wont matter as much. people act like if we would need 10 enforcer in the team. That's ridiculous.

You know the cursed thing may have some validity. No matter what they do....it doesn't work
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they should bring native elders, priests, voodoo onguans, whatever you can think of and exorcise every goddamned inch of the Bell Center. Since they left the Forum (or traded Patrick Roy) they’ve been cursed.

Somehow the good ghosts never made the trip and we picked up a bunch of mean spirited arseholes that enjoy our annual demise.

Honestly though watching this team tonight, we only had one forward that went to the net hard on a consistent basis - and who was it? One of the smallest guys we have that’s made a career out of it, sacrificed his body countless times, and still keeps going.

I’m speaking about the corpse of Brendan Gallagher of course. Even with all the injuries, the small stature and Father Time catching up on him, he continues to be the only guy we have that will make life difficult for the opposing team and their goaltender. Kind of sad that he’s the only one, but it’s reality.

Nah, we stuck up for each other much more last year, even Kovacevic was dropping the mitts. This year they look like they don't even like each other

Anybody who did sports will know when you are overmatched you will simply be run over. There's no amount of kirktr that will change that. It happens to all rebuilding team.
